Story
Burnout. Many women in America have experienced it. What’s expected of women and what it’s really like to be a woman in today’s world are two very different things - and women exhaust themselves trying to close the gap between them. Sisters Emily Nagoski, PhD, and Amelia Nagoski, DMA, are here to help end the cycle of feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Instead of asking us to ignore the very real obstacles and societal pressures that stand between women and well-being, they explain with compassion and optimism what we’re up against - and teach us how to fight back.

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Publisher's Summary
The instant New York Times best seller
End the struggle, speak up for what you need, and experience the freedom of being truly yourself.
Healthy boundaries. We all know we should have them - in order to achieve work/life balance, cope with toxic people, and enjoy rewarding relationships with partners, friends, and family. But what do "healthy boundaries" really mean - and how can we successfully express our needs, say "no", and be assertive without offending others?
Licensed counselor, sought-after relationship expert, and one of the most influential therapists on Instagram Nedra Glover Tawwab demystifies this complex topic for today's world. In a relatable and inclusive tone, Set Boundaries, Find Peace presents simple-yet-powerful ways to establish healthy boundaries in all aspects of life. Rooted in the latest research and best practices used in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), these techniques help us identify and express our needs clearly and without apology - and unravel a root problem behind codependency, power struggles, anxiety, depression, burnout, and more.
What the critics say
"Tawwab debuts with a comprehensive guide on how to understand and establish interpersonal boundaries.... She identifies six types of boundaries - physical, sexual, intellectual, emotional, material, and time - and dispenses tips on how to uphold personal limits.... Listeners who follow Tawwab on social media and those who find setting boundaries especially difficult will appreciate the advice." (Publishers Weekly)
“Set Boundaries, Find Peace breaks down the what, why, and how of boundaries in a clear and compassionate way, leaving you confident, empowered, and prepared to tackle those tough conversations.” (Melissa Urban, co-founder and CEO of Whole30)
“This is the boundary bible. Nedra teaches us not only how to set healthy boundaries but to be clear about our feelings and intentions. Finding peace requires showing up - Nedra has written the blueprint on how to not only show up but also do the work.” (Alexandra Elle, author of After the Rain)

Life changing!
This book has been the best book I’ve read and most useful in my 34 years of life. It should be read/listened to by everyone to create healthy relationships with yourself and others. I Loved how she included examples of how to say things and how to deal with different situations. Enjoyed her wisdom and knowledge on each topic that she covered in the book, I also loved that each chapter was ended with questions to help the reader to solidify the information that each chapter spoke to. This book isn’t a book that you can just read or listen to once...and I actually wished that I purchased the hard copy to write in and take notes. Will be listening again with my note pad in hand...or might even pick up a hard copy so I can do some highlighting.
Just outstanding, empowering, encouraging and uplifting!!! Thank you Nedra for this book! It was much needed!

This book transformed my life
This book honestly saved me thousands of dollars in therapy bills. Turns out, majority of my issues stem from a lack of boundaries. Nedra’s practical advice, relevant examples, and journal exercises provided me with so much clarity in the boundaries I need to set in my life. I particularly enjoyed the parts about setting boundaries with friends, family and social media. I wish I had this book when I was in my early 20s! I’m so happy I found it nonetheless. Definitely recommend!

Your Opinion is the Only Valid One
Tawwab gives some good advice in her book. However it leaves me wondering, what if my life problems are my own making. Tawwab yearns to give you an out on this moral question.
Preaching personal assertiveness is beneficial. But the author continually falls in line with the common idea that everything negative in life is the culmination of outside factors. This gives the reader unrealistic problem solving advice when it comes to actually helping them.

Excellent concise self help book
If you’re familiar with a 12 step program, particularly Al-Anon, much of the information will not be brand new to you. However, the way it is presented is fantastic. This is very easy to understand, with actual things you can do, examples of what to say, and a concise summary of every important message and any other self-help book has stated. Highly recommended if you feel anxious, overwhelmed, resentful, or otherwise feel you could be happier and life could be better
