Story
There may be no tidy solutions or pithy answers to life’s big challenges, but Michelle Obama believes that we can all locate and lean on a set of tools to help us better navigate change and remain steady within flux. In The Light We Carry, she opens a frank and honest dialogue with listeners, considering the questions many of us wrestle with: How do we build enduring and honest relationships? How can we discover strength and community inside our differences? What tools do we use to address feelings of self-doubt or helplessness? What do we do when it all starts to feel like too much?

I’ve been in this life for 50 years, been trying to work out its riddle for 42, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last 35. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me.

She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? For decades we've been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F*ck positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let's be honest, shit is f*cked, and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn't sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is - a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck is his antidote to the coddling, let's-all-feel-good mind-set that has infected modern society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.

Publisher's Summary
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Discover the global phenomenon that tells an unforgettable story of love, loss, and healing.
“Compellingly artful . . . [a] blockbuster memoir.”—The New Yorker
It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror. As Princess Diana was laid to rest, billions wondered what Prince William and Prince Harry must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.
For Harry, this is that story at last.
Before losing his mother, twelve-year-old Prince Harry was known as the carefree one, the happy-go-lucky Spare to the more serious Heir. Grief changed everything. He struggled at school, struggled with anger, with loneliness—and, because he blamed the press for his mother’s death, he struggled to accept life in the spotlight.
At twenty-one, he joined the British Army. The discipline gave him structure, and two combat tours made him a hero at home. But he soon felt more lost than ever, suffering from post-traumatic stress and prone to crippling panic attacks. Above all, he couldn’t find true love.
Then he met Meghan. The world was swept away by the couple’s cinematic romance and rejoiced in their fairy-tale wedding. But from the beginning, Harry and Meghan were preyed upon by the press, subjected to waves of abuse, racism, and lies. Watching his wife suffer, their safety and mental health at risk, Harry saw no other way to prevent the tragedy of history repeating itself but to flee his mother country. Over the centuries, leaving the Royal Family was an act few had dared. The last to try, in fact, had been his mother. . . .
For the first time, Prince Harry tells his own story, chronicling his journey with raw, unflinching honesty. A landmark publication, Spare is full of insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.

Insightful, detailed, honest, beautifully written
So much anticipation for this book and so much of Harry’s life and words has been obsessed and taken out of context. He reads pleasantly and there absolutely isn’t any tone of mean-ness that the British tabloids made it out to be. It’s introspective and I appreciate him taking accountability for a lot of things (also not hiding behind a palace spokesperson but using his name on the book!). Honest historical record of what it’s like to grow up in one of the most exclusive families in the world.

The spare
I’ve always been a huge royal fan. As of late, I’ve been disappointed in Harry and his choices. Still I couldn’t help but use a credit to download this book.
It’s interesting.
Bias. Some of it- blaming the British press and Camilla - is repetitive.
He’s hard to relate to in a lot of the book, and then at the same time the family aspects is relatable.
The difference is he’s getting paid to talk about his family who don’t want to be talked about.
It’s interesting. But whiney and bitter is too.

Oh.My.Heart.
The authenticity. The vulnerability. The seemingly casual objective sharing, gentle lifting of a vail, all threaded through a tender-hearted almost self exploration.
I did not expect this, and felt the grief, loss, bewilderment, sorrow, acceptance, and resolve right along with each page that expressed it.
Not one to follow the monarch normally, and generally annoyed at those who take the obsession to bbI found, I purchased the book because from very much the outside I admired this young couples bold courage to stand up to such a powerful force and the incredible move to take their own voices back.
It’s in the simultaneous power and crushing grief of that, that I found myself crying for this dear boy. This book may require many pauses for that reason. For those open-hearted enough to truly put themselves in this boy’s heart for a moment, at those ages, and experience it all along with him.
Oh. My. Heart.

Endless Chapters on How Harry is a Victim
The book was an endless narrative about how Harry is a victim of everyone around him. It was unbelievably tone deaf and made it clear that Harry has no idea how privileged he is. It was also a very slow read and extremely boring overall.

I loved that Harry got a chance to read his book aloud. To use his voice to tell his own story.

Spare Me
Sometimes it’s fun to be immature, but not when you throw everyone you’ve ever known under the bus. I’m not talking about the royals and their crazy family mess, I’m talking the ex gfs who finally moved on who didn’t want the spotlight, drum teacher who took too long in his wheelchair and the “mousey/greasy” boarding school mom. Gross. Far too long and lots of waxing poetic. Get ready for a detailed military reenactment and a bunch of stuff no one ever needed to know- cringe. For someone who “just wants privacy,” he messed that one up. A big, immature finger point to keep his bride happy, family in the mad forever and bank account “royal” with out the hard work and loyalty that goes with it. Life is hard. Having nature as your “god” while doing lots of drugs and alcohol will make it a lot harder.

I Just Can't and Neither Could Harry
You know, before I read this book I saw a video on YouTube where a body language expert was saying Harry is a narcissist. Although, I'm no anglophile, I thought that was a bit harsh. Up to that point, of the relatively few times I had heard him speak; I never got that impression. When my new credits became available, I couldn't wait to find a title and, like a drunken sailor, I tripped over "Spare."
I didn't run off half-cocked. I read several reviews and there were just so many 5 reviews. I have rarely seen so many consecutive 5 reviews on a title. So, va va va boom! Come here big boy; let's get on with this read! Right out of the gate, in the prologue; I thought I was going to die. While I admit I wasn't a child of royalty and my dad didn't cheat on my mom, I still had a lot in common with the prince both in privilege and in tragedy. It was still early days into the read I found myself screaming at Alexa,"Quit your winnging!" and , frankly, it wouldn't be the last.
It's not that I lack empathy for little Lord Fauntleroy but I find him morose and lacking appropriate perspective. He writes this title as though he were his child self instead of the 38 year old grown ass man that he is; and, given how proud he is of his progress in therapy, it should be. That, ladies and gentlemen, is why after 23 painful chapters, 2 things happened for me that rarely do: I didn't finish the book and I returned it.

I suffer from Insomnia. Put this book on and fell asleep within 10 Minutes. Now I know which selection to choose. Thx Harry!

Bad language and to long
Language foul and found story quite boring. Could have been shorter. It sounds like poor me.

Big cry baby
He has no clue how most people live, he is very entitled. His problems are normal things we all go through, I can’t believe he is so self absorbed and a big cry baby. He has had so many incredible adventures and chances, but he just moans about them instead of making the most of his life and luck.

Spare a disjointed whinning of a spoiled rich kid
this book was boring it put me to sleep 3 times while listening to it. He has a very dull way of telling the story or should I say his "truth" I didn't finish it barely got through 5 chapters....he needs therapy over the death of his mother tragic yes but after 20 + years he needs to move on and stop blaming the world for "mummy's " death. I won't be recommending this book to anyone.

Moving and Courageous
After listening to this biography, I deeply appreciated its honesty and thoughtfulness. It took courage to reveal the depth and breadth of the dangerous gratuitous harm the press can inflict- not to mention the outsized and undemocratic influence it exercises on our institutions. Why do we allow them to continue to perpetrate this pernicious harm on the well-being of our society and our institutions? Bravo to Prince Harry for straightforward revelations about who he actually is and what he has experienced. If we just held our press to a (much) higher standard - such as printing the truth- so much suffering by so many people could be avoided. I feel confident that Prince Harry and Meghan have been and will continue to be a much needed force for good. Grateful for this book, wishing them the best.

Génial !
J’ai absolument adoré ce livre. Le fait qu’il soit lu par Harry lui même le rend encore plus intéressant.

J’ai beaucoup aimé écouter ce livre en langue originale et encore plus avec la voix de l’auteur en personne

Missing part 2
I enjoyed learning his story. I found it rich with detail. However, I feel that the last part, the one that inevitably interests the public the most, was flown over. I wish he had addressed it with as much detail as the rest. I know he edited it because of the queens passing, but I wish he would have given us more. This leaves me wanting a part 2. A what comes now edition.

Interesting
Ive always loved Prince Harry and i think his story is interesting especially sharing his point of view but i think the part on the war and being in the military is far too long and boring. I really loved the part on Africa and his love for Meghan. Bravo for writing all that about your family, It's never easy to point fingers

Thank you
for bringing everything we suspected to light in a beautiful and honest, heartfelt rendering of the eventful life of a young man who deserved to be treated so much more respectfully. And so good to hear it said and read so eloquently by our Prince.

Heart wrenching
A fascinating detailed and honest account of Harry’s troubled life within the royal family. Through his memoirs, Harry puts the record straight. It is so sad that he has had to do this but I’m glad he did - and fully understand why. Every Briton should read this with an open mind. It has shattered the image that I had of the royals, especially Prince William. It made me ashamed to be British. It was heart wrenching moving me to tears on several occasions. Thank you Harry for your courage and honesty and I hope you and Meaghan will get the peace you deserve.
