Publisher's Summary

Maddison James is about to discover some truths about the world.

Firstly...supernaturals exist.

WTF?

Secondly...she is one, even though no one seems to know exactly what kind.

Double WTF.

Thirdly...she’s about to go back to school.

Well, things just got a little more interesting.

The Supernatural Academy is where shifters, vampires, magic users, and fey are educated. Where they are taught about their abilities, and how to function in the human world. Maddison already has the human part down, but this supernatural thing is an entirely new dangerous game.

Example one: mean girls who can actually turn you into a frog.

Example two: Asher Lock, a god at the Academy. Not literally...well, who knows for sure. He certainly acts the part, as do all of his minions who worship him.

Asher drives her crazy, because apparently snarly, gorgeous, and arrogant is her thing, and despite their mutual dislike, sparks fly between them. The more they’re thrown together, the more Asher is determined to figure out what’s been blocking her abilities.

Until the moment the truth is revealed, and they find out nothing in this supernatural world is what they thought.

Including each other.

So disappointed. Love the story, hate the narrator.

I thought I liked the narrator at first! I really did. But after a few chapters, I slowly started to HATE her style of narration. She raises her voice higher in EVERY sentence at the beginning before lowering it slowly over the course of the sentence. So basically, every sentence she says begins with a high pitch and ends with a low pitch. Imagine hearing someone speak that way for EVERY sentence for HOURS on end! I just couldn’t take it anymore after a while. And that’s super disappointing! I really wanted to force myself to deal with it because the story is great. I love supernatural stories like this one! So kudos to the author, but I’m sorry you got stuck with a bad narrator. I usually hate leaving negative reviews, but maybe the narrator will take this information into consideration for her next book and maybe she’ll try to be less “uniform”. Also, one of the male voices she did was just painfully bad. I’m not sure what she was trying to accomplish but it was like she was trying to make his voice sound low and instead, she made it sound like someone doing an impression of a monster voice for a child’s bedtime story.

Decent Story

I would have liked a little more action but the story was good. The writing was clear and visual. I love these kinds of stories. But I think for my next one I will need a little more violence and or conflict.

good book

good but way less details then the CURSE OF THE GODS SERIES.

closer to teen then adult.
unique story line if not a bit vague.

Not really original

It was a struggle to get through. Too many parallels to Harry Potter. Too many cliches.

Awesome book!

Great book if you like reverse harems! I could hardly put it down! Includes the whole super natural of vampires, magic, shifters but also another twist that I haven’t heard in a book previously. Definitely keeps my attention!

Absolutely wonderful!

It has been a long time since I enjoyed a book this much. I found myself finding excuses to go do things that would allow me to listen just a bit more. I laughed and cried and was on pins and needles waiting to find out what was next. I cannot recommend this book and reader more!

Jaymin and Vanessa have never led me astray

It’s Jaymin Eve that should be all this review needs. The story plot is like reading a movie unfold. She has a way of just digging into your imagination and tickling all the heart strings. Her characters have an amazing depth and chemistry she just makes ooze off the pages.

Vanessa is the absolute best narrator. No one does snark and sass better. She reads with suck flair your sucked right into the story.

Great spin off!

This series can stand alone which is what makes a great spin off series. The original series, Dragon Marked, has it own amazing story and Jaymin Eve has created a vibrant, challenging amazing world that takes the listener on a journey. Maddison James is a heroine that is relatable and yet not. The true test is weather or not a book can make you cry and yup it did.

NOTE: Read the next book "The Year of Purple" and ........ SPOILER ALERT - Asher needs a bloody slap!
