Publisher's Summary

Legendary leadership and elite performance expert Robin Sharma introduced The 5am Club concept more than 20 years ago, based on a revolutionary morning routine that has helped his clients maximize their productivity, activate their best health and bulletproof their serenity in this age of overwhelming complexity.

Now, in this life-changing book, handcrafted by the author over a rigorous four-year period, you will discover the early-rising habit that has helped so many accomplish epic results while upgrading their happiness, helpfulness, and feelings of aliveness.

Through an enchanting - and often amusing - story about two struggling strangers who meet an eccentric tycoon who becomes their secret mentor, The 5am Club will walk you through:

  • How great geniuses, business titans and the world’s wisest people start their mornings to produce astonishing achievements
  • A little-known formula you can use instantly to wake up early feeling inspired, focused, and flooded with a fiery drive to get the most out of each day
  • A step-by-step method to protect the quietest hours of daybreak so you have time for exercise, self-renewal, and personal growth
  • A neuroscience-based practice proven to help make it easy to rise while most people are sleeping, giving you precious time for yourself to think, express your creativity, and begin the day peacefully instead of being rushed
  • “Insider-only” tactics to defend your gifts, talents, and dreams against digital distraction and trivial diversions so you enjoy fortune, influence, and a magnificent impact on the world

Part manifesto for mastery, part playbook for genius-grade productivity and part companion for a life lived beautifully, The 5am Club is a work that will transform your life. Forever.

Way short of Expectations

I've read every single book by Robin and loved it all. The 5AM club falls flat, filled with cliches and at times it sounds like a book of quotes. The story used is boring and the 5AM ritual is a fraction of the entire book and so much unnecessary advice and self-help nonsense. I've never provided a bad review but this had to be one. Wish I could return my audible and also the book.

What a disappointment

I’ve tried to listen to the first few chapters and can’t figure out what the point is. It’s not a compelling ‘story’ to say the least - it’s implausible, badly written and the characters are not interesting. And I’m not learning anything - I was hoping for a motivational / inspirational sort of book. It actually sounds like a parody of that kind of book at first.

Confusing...

The narrator is making voices for all of these characters...I am wondering if the wrong book was uploaded under this title? It has nothing to do with getting up at 5am...just quotes I have read on Facebook from other leaders and written as a novel almost? I am going to request a refund and have them check it is the right book. Disappointing.

Loved the concept, not the delivery

The concept around the 5 am club is great! The narrative is annoying and although his ability to switch voices between characters is helpful, the voices used are very annoying. Made the 'Entrepreneur" sound the like a flake. Too long and drawn out, but I clung on to the end in hopes it would get better.

Lame story

I had high expectations but I couldn't put up with the lame story. The entire book is like the longest infomercial in the world. "I can't wait to learn your lessons and improve my art" v "The magic bullet will really improve my morning routine". There were way too many quotes and side lessons. About 10 of the 11.5 hours could have been cut.

Good content, bad story.

The 5 o'clock club is a morning routine process that Mr. Sharma should have explained in a book 1/4 its current size, omitting the story telling format. Storytelling in a written format is not Mr. Sharma talent. Characters are artificial, story unrealistic and convoluted, narrator not the best

I arrived half way and did not finish the book, and do not intend to. A summary version of the 5am process exists on the internet - suffice to know it that way. It is a sound process, worth trying.

Hard to get through

Like another person posted - the concept is good, not the delivery.
I almost shut the recording off, but forced myself to listen to it.
It did improve when they got into the actual 5am club portion, but it took a long time to get there.

How did this even get published??

Tbh I could only listen for 20 min and forced myself to go to 40 min. I’m not a mean person and I feel bad for saying this because I’ve never successfully written more than a page but this was shallow mindless dribble with one worn out cliche after another. The premise of the book is great but probably best suited to a blog post or buzz feed list. Not enough meat to warrant a book and certainly not enough writing skill to emulate The Alchemist which I think it tries too hard to do.

loved it!

I struggled with the introduction and how the adventure started, but once you are in Mauritius you won't be ablw to put the book down! (or to stop listening). Best enjoyed with my journal.

Worst from Robin Sharma !

I love the author but this one is the worst from him. May be it’s the narrator, tried so hard to concentrate, still didn’t make any sense. Returning the book.

Automated voice?? The man sounds like a robot

The narrator sounds like a robot. Very bizarre!
I'd LOVE to write that the material is new and amazing but really it's not. It's a repackage of much earlier same material by other writers that's already out there. Sorry Mr Sharma but I was hoping to really love this book like I loved your other writings.

The tone is horrible. and annoying.

and distracting. He sounds like a kindergarten teacher reading to 5 year olds. I wish I could have my money back. no substance.

An absolute waste of time!!

I’m a veteran of many many business and leadership books and this is by far the worst one I’ve ever encountered.
1. The audio performance is quite literally annoying. Just give the sample a listen and you will hear what I mean.
2. The entire book can be summed up in a couple of sentences and reading the entire book fails to add much of anything substantive to it. I’ll save you the bother of reading the book. Get up early, spend time working on your health, mental, spiritual, and emotional self before you let the day run away on you. Do some thing to move your life and business forward in the direction you want the to go. Consistent, daily small efforts will yield big rewards over time.
3. Lastly this is some of the poorest quality writing I’ve never encountered. Overly simplistic, repetitive, pedantic, and punctilious.

I suffered through the whole book, shocked at it’s lack or original ideas. Like a train wreck I simply could not look away. I kept waiting for the big reveal; only to get to the end and simply wish I had not wasted my time. Perhaps this review will help you avoid wasting your time like I did with mine.

Annoying Story and performance distracts from sound principles

A few great principles are hidden in an annoying fictional unbelievable story. The audio performance was beyond overly dramatic and distracting. Do not waste your time and money on this one.

The Narrator puts me to sleep

I was looking forward to this book as I am a Robin Sharma fan. However, I could not get past the first chapter. The narrator puts me to sleep in minutes.
I would not dare to listen to him while driving.
So much for an audio pre-order.
Buying the hard copy :/

Buy the printed book. Audible recording painful

The voice talent reading this is just painful to listen to-overly dramatic and distracting. I felt like I was listening to The Hobbit w/all the cheesy character voices.

Ugggghhhh

I wanted to like this book, but despite my efforts to finish it, I simply could not. As someone who enjoys most of Robin’s material, I had high hopes for this book. But, the writing and dialogue were frankly cringe worthy. The performance was equally so. I’d love a different execution of the 5am concept without the awkward storytelling.

Not what I expected

I got this book on presale and started listening the day it was released. I had never heard of Robin Sharma before this book. I did not expect the book to be in narrative form and kept waiting for the opening illustration to end to get on with the book. It never did. At first I was disappointed, but eventually was drawn into the story.

Halfway through the book I started getting up at 5 am and just completed my sixth morning. I'm not a morning person at all and can't say I enjoy getting up early, but I am already seeing benefits. I have had some of the most productive days I've had in a very long time.

I finished this book on the morning of my birthday and an committing to stick with the 5AC. I look forward to the new year and seeing new goals and am confident that my new morning routine will help me accomplish them.

My chief complaint is the narrators voice didn't hold my attention very well and I found my mind wandering, especially when the Spellbinder was speaking.

I will get the print version of this book as well, I believe. It is full of wonderful quotes. There is significant overlap of information I have heard before, but it was all worth repeating, and also had some new insights.

this book will change your life!

Fantastic book from Robin Sharma
Profound messages and practices that are well woven into a ‘gentle’ story. I liked it a lot
And will apply the 5ac!
