if you like really dumb main characters...
Struggled with this one, prefer this author's other series. Main character continuously makes stupid decisions which the author uses to keep the story going, it got tiring fast. The relationship was meh, I had a hard time believing Sam would love someone who always treated him so vile.

One of my Favorite Series
I adore the world and characters created. I love the build up and different adventures each book has. It is like Lord of the Rings meets Six of Crows meets Anita Blake. Strong female lead, dark urban atmosphere, with fantasy twists plus a massive adventure. I am a fan of the writing and al the plot twists. The book does a great job at bring forth emotional reactions.

High school fan fic
This book reads like a high school fan fiction about assassins. The main character is an edgy teen with a horrible temper and attitude who's obsessed with fashion and how she looks. The plot is very simple and there's nothing intellectually creative or unique in this universe. The love interest and main character have no positive interactions with each other but the remain a love interest nonetheless. I try to finish all my books but I just couldn't with this one

A compelling and engaging story
I have previously read this book in physical format, and listening to it was just as enjoyable. The story gives key insight into Celaena’s character at the beginning of her journey, and all the joys and heartbreak that she experiences along the way pull at the heart and make you root for her. Well-written characters, descriptive but not flowery writing, foreshadowing for what’s to come later in the series, engaging plot and emotion that draws you into the story all make this a compelling tale. Elizabeth Evans’ performance was enjoyable to listen to also, and I felt she did a good job with the emotion and all the different voices - with the exception of some of her male voices, which I felt were a bit over-the-top dramatic. Overall, a very good book; I would recommend!

YA and a smidge nonsensical
A bit of a spoiler:
The main character is silly, entitled, and naive which I guess is to be expected from a 16 year old assassin. I’ve never heard of an assassin that is well-known. That feels counterproductive. The love story was a bit absurd. Poor Sam, I really didn’t get to know him or care about him. I did not enjoy this at all!
