This is a lot of chaos to pack into one story, but N.K. Jemisin is a master of craft and made this a memorable story that I finished within a day. The story revolves around a newly created god as she learns about mortals and their worlds, come to terms with their power, and ultimately begin to grow to protect her new friends.

Shill lives up to her legacy as heir of the Trickster god. She is chaos and energy and exploration. She is also hilarious. More often than not, I found myself laughing at her witty one-liners and thought processes.

While the story may be a little hard to follow for some readers (you are inside the head of a god who was *just* born after all), it's nonetheless emotional and powerful, as all of Jemisin's work is. I was constantly rooting for Shill and her new friend Eino.

I also have to commend the audiobook narrator for her impassioned, enthusiastic, and genuinely funny performance.

To wrap up, this is an excellent book for someone who is looking for a powerful piece of fiction or is looking to challenge their skill as a reader. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
