Publisher's Summary

From number one New York Times best-selling author Brandon Sanderson, the Mistborn series is a heist story of political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

Three hundred years after the events of the Mistborn trilogy, Scadrial is now on the verge of modernity, with railroads to supplement the canals, electric lighting in the streets and the homes of the wealthy, and the first steel-framed skyscrapers racing for the clouds.

The Bands of Mourning are the mythical metal minds owned by the Lord Ruler, said to grant anyone who wears them the powers that the Lord Ruler had at his command. Hardly anyone thinks they really exist. A kandra researcher has returned to Elendel with images that seem to depict the Bands, as well as writings in a language that no one can read. Waxillium Ladrian is recruited to travel south to the city of New Seran to investigate. Along the way he discovers hints that point to the true goals of his uncle Edwarn and the shadowy organization known as The Set.

Best of era 2 so far

If the quality of this series continues, The Lost Metal will be something special! I'm all caught up and ready for book 4 next month.

The growth of so many characters was wonderful to see in this story. Wax, Wayne, Maraci, and Steris all experienced some kind of breakthrough. Also, the introduction of another culture of people on Scadrial is super cool!

Good book, fun uncovering secrets

I've said it before but the author does a very good job of making you feel like you're uncovering a mystery.

Solid 3rd addition

Great 3rd addition to the series. Character growth is ever present which is still wonderful to feel.
Great questions regarding the use and powers of responsibility on vary levels of humanity.

Retcons aside, it's good

Author took the story in a questionable direction with what is arguably a giant retcon that doesn't quite mesh with previously explained information. aside from that, it's a good listen.

investiture ; science, magic and FUN

This is probably my favorite Sanderson book. It highlights the brillance of his magic system on scadrial. fantastic worldbuilding.

the story on its own is not his strongest but once you're well versed in the cosmere, damn it is FASCINATING.

bon roman dans une excellente série et un univers fascinant. les amateurs de fantaisie se doivent de lire le cosmere.

so we'll written

I have been a larger fan of mistborn era 1 up to the point, but wow does this book ever shake that conception. the details are so clean and well planned, the ending unexpected yet inevitable. if you enjoyed any of the other mistborn books this one won't disappoint.

Another great read!

I am so enjoying this author. Having had his works suggested to me over the years I have only just now been able to sink my teeth into them! Binge reading everything I can find from Sanderson.

The Mistborn Series never disappoints!

Another great tale from Sanderson, mixing well developed characters with interesting scenarios.

Another great narration from Michael Kramer.

If you've enjoyed past entries in this series, this will be just as enjoyable.
