À propos de cet audio

In this thrilling New York Times bestseller from the worlds most celebrated writer, three bodies are found in a Chicago bedroom at the same time a black book goes missing—leaving the city in more danger than the detectives on the case can handle.

Billy Harney was born to be a cop. As the son of Chicago's chief of detectives with a twin sister on the force, Billy plays it by the book. Teaming up with his adrenaline-junkie partner, Detective Kate Fenton, there's nothing he wouldn't sacrifice for his job. Enter Amy Lentini, a hard-charging assistant attorney hell-bent on making a name for herself who suspects Billy isn't the cop he claims to be. They're about to be linked by more than their careers.

A horrifying murder leads investigators to an unexpected address-an exclusive brothel that caters to Chicago's most powerful citizens. There's plenty of incriminating evidence on the scene, but what matters most is what's missing: the madam's black book. Now with shock waves rippling through the city's elite, everyone's desperate to find it.

As Chicago's elite scramble to get their hands on the elusive black book, no one's motives can be trusted. An ingenious, inventive thriller about power, corruption, and the secrets that can destroy a city, The Black Book is James Patterson at his page-turning best.

Ce que les critiques en disent

Praise for THE BLACK BOOK:
"Brilliantly twisty...Many readers will agree with Patterson that this is the 'best book [he's] written in 25 years.'"—Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)
"The mystery is authentic, the lead-up genuinely suspenseful, and the leading characters and situations more memorable than Patterson's managed in quite a while."—Kirkus
"It's almost as thrilling to see a writer like James Patterson at the top of his game as it is to read THE BLACK BOOK--a total page-turner that will keep you guessing from start to terrifying finish."—Karin Slaughter
"THE BLACK BOOK has more twists than a Formula One race, and the pace is just as fast. Deeply rooted characters, a touch of humor, and a climax nobody can see coming--it's vintage Patterson."—Brad Taylor

Amazing and intriguing story. I read it in 2 days and normally it takes me months if not longer to read a book. This book grabs you from the very first chapter

Intriguing read

If I had read this story first I would have enjoyed it more, however, I read the prequels and now I’m totally confused. The 2 prequels have similar storylines/plots with similar outcomes and unless each story is taking place in a different universe then the then outcomes can’t be the same. I’m trying not to give any spoilers but there is no way the brother and sister could be this naive if either of the other two stories had already happened.

Confused by ending

could see some things that seemed obvious that the character didn't get but a good twist at the end made it out a great see sorry with more depth than originally thought

Loved the story. Great performance. good twist

Twists n turns are the best! You really got a great picture of the characters. Patterson does it again.

I started the series with .5 and liked the two first releases. They were like radio theater with real actors. Then I bought the next in the series... and it's old-school writing and not acted. Feel like you dooped me into buying the book.

dooped a little

I was expecting less in terms of plot development and characterization and found that I was enjoying the book and the reader very much. Typically, I only listen to my audio books in the car and I found myself listening while doing odd jobs around the house too.

Better than most Pattersons

I love this genre and have read a ton of James Patterson, some are just ok, some are good, but always entertaining enough. This one was great! One of the best from him, in my opinion. The plot was complex and a real page turner. You think you know, but there are twists. I’ve already purchased Red Book, the follow up!

Surprised!
