About this listen

Khai Diep has no feelings. Well, he feels irritation when people move his things or contentment when ledgers balance down to the penny‚ but not important emotions, like love. His family knows better - that his autism means he just processes emotions differently. When he steadfastly avoids relationships, his mother takes matters into her own hands and returns to Vietnam to find him the perfect bride.

As a mixed-race girl living in the slums of Ho Chi Minh City, Esme Tran has always felt out of place. When the opportunity arises to come to America and meet a potential husband, she can't turn it down. Seducing Khai, however, doesn't go as planned. She's hopelessly smitten with a man who's convinced he can never return her affection.

This is my first book by this author and first time by this narrator and they both did an excellent job. I appreciated the highlights of the struggles each of them have gone through in their lives, the cross-cultural differences of being born in one country and immigrating to another. I loved that the main character had autism, but I wish there'd maybe been a little bit more education or discussion on it in the book. I know that it's not the same for everyone. looking forward to reading more from this author.

funny, heartwarming, steamy

it was an absolute delight to listen to, start to finish. I am autistic, and it was so refreshing to hear from an autistic voice in literature. even if you don't identify as neurodivergent, I think you could still enjoy this.

Never thought I'd enjoy a romance so much!

Cheesy and fulfilling. The epilogue was a bit to much for me but if you want something easy and happy to read quick it’s good for that!

After reading The Kiss Quotient, I became an official fan of Helen Hoang. I wasn't willing to read The Bride Test at the very beginning as the summary didn't appeal to me and I loved the Kiss Quotient so much that I really didn't think The Bride Test could top it. Then, a few days ago, during my morning meditation, the title of this book suddenly jumped into my mind and I thought to myself maybe it's time for me to read it. I really enjoyed it a lot and I burst into laughter when I was reading about Kai's sex education!!! I would not say The Bride Test tops The Kiss Quotient but I would say they are equally good and you won't regret it!!! Can't wait to listen to the Heart Principle which is the story of Quang.

You won't regret it!!

Didn’t realize this would be an adult book, so this is your official warning. Kai just sexualizes her a lot, And there’s a couple times and they sleep together. But it was good apart from that. I wasn’t blow away with the writing either, but the story kept me interested so I can’t complain too much.
