Loved this book. listened to it 3 times in a row... I know who has the time and thank you Covid.... About the book, Not sure what really pulled me in and The powerhouse boss or the unrelenting employee. However so many great aspects from new friendships to love it is a great book.

Incredible performance

Loved this story and the writing so much. Laughed so hard and really enjoyed the characters. The reading is phenomenal, too! Worth listening to just for that.

Slow burn, talented and sultry narrator

A beautiful and engaging story. Two lonely people isolated by completely different circumstances (and themselves) find an unexpected connection. I particularly liked that the characters grew to be more suited to each other over time.

The narration was superb. Dawe does guiless and sophisticated equally well, has good comedic timing, and puts all the emotion you could want into the expected elements of a romance from fights to longing and passion.

Wonderful in Every Way

The best narration I’ve heard yet in an audio book, Angela Dawe is clearly a master of her craft. Her ability to effortlessly take on a specific identity for each character made for an extremely enjoyable listen.

The story itself is equally as impressive, deep character development that makes you feel the deep emotions throughout. Lee Winter had me craving for more, having to know what happens next.

This one is a must read, don’t pass it up.

Great story!

I’ll admit that I didn’t have any interest in this book for a while. Something about the cover art gave me preconceived notions that this story wasn’t up my alley, so to speak. But I was so wrong!

I loved this story. I loved all the characters. Even the characters that seemed annoying at first, wormed their way into my heart. An older-ish, stubborn ice Queen that maybe isn’t as cold hearted as she’d like everyone to think and a genuine, pure hearted millenial that wears her heart on her sleeve and can’t help but be herself at all times even under the intense scrutiny of said “ice queen” and manages to be the only person that sees right through her hardened exterior.

Yes, a trope that’s been done a thousand times and usually not my cup of tea but Lee Winter manages to make it unique with her incredible story telling, well developed characters and a perfect balance of the story being told from both MC’s point of view.

I listened to the entire thing pretty much in one shot, I couldn’t turn it off. It made me laugh out loud at several points and I’ll give a heap of that credit to the top notch narration. Angela Dawe brings the characters to life and her interpretation of the rapport and banter between the MC’s and even the secondary characters was everything. She covered such a wide range of characters including an Australian accent, French accents, the snooty high society manner of speaking that held the slightest hint of a mid western accent when the character was angry and let it slip, as well as several male characters and it was all done absolutely perfect. Every voice was unique, believable, fit the personality of each character perfectly and there was never any doubt or confusion about who said what or who was speaking to who. (Which I appreciate whole heartedly). She was 100% consistent with each voice throughout the entire story. Angela Dawe really is an amazing narrator (in my top 3) and did every unique character justice in their own way.

Despite my initial faux pas of literally judging this book by its cover…I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who has ears and even if you don’t have ears, I would say you should still give it a try.

“We’re done” 😉
