Publisher's Summary

New York Times, USA Today, and number-one Wall Street Journal best seller.

Forget hustling. This audiobook will disrupt your deeply held beliefs about work, success, and, indeed, life.

If you’re the average person in the developed world, you spend 70 percent of your waking hours at work. And if you’re the average person, you’re miserable for most of those hours. This is simply not an acceptable state of affairs for your one shot at life. No matter your station, you possess incredible, unique powers. It’s a modern myth that hard work and hustle are the paths to success. Inside you is a soul. And once you unleash it fully into the domain of work, magic happens. Awakening the Buddha and the badass inside you is a process that will disrupt the way you work altogether. You’ll gain access to tools that bend the very rules of reality.

  • The Buddha is the archetype of the spiritual master. The person who can live in this world but also move with an ease, grace, and flow that comes from inner awareness and alignment.
  • The badass is the archetype of the changemaker. This is the person who is out there creating change, building, coding, writing, inventing, leading. The badass represents the benevolent disruptor - the person challenging the norms so we can be better as a species.

Once you integrate the skill sets of both archetypes, you will experience life at a different level from most people. You will operate from a space of bliss, ease, inspiration, and abundance. The Buddha and the Badass: The Secret Spiritual Art of Succeeding at Work will show you how. Author of the New York Times best seller The Code of the Extraordinary Mind and founder of Mindvalley, Vishen Lakhiani has turned his own life and company into his research lab. He’s codified everything he’s learned into the how-to steps in this audiobook. The Buddha and the Badass teaches you how to master your work and your life.

Just don't.

Instead, read Erich Fromm To Have or to Be instead of this arrogant fluff.

Great read.

I wish Vishen has read this book. It just doesn’t seem the same or motivating to hear some one else’s voice. I kept losing focus as I was listening. It’s not as captivating as how Vishen read code of extra ordinary mind.
Loved code of extraordinary mind and this seems like a great sequel to it. Thanks Vishen.

Brilliant words wonderfully narrated.

My new favourite book. Very motivational, inspirational, and extremely sobering! I'm 22 years old and it's always been my dream to lead my own company and this audiobook is giving me the blueprint for the foundation of that company.

A lot of fluff and little content.

Vishen talks a lot about his personal/external credentials without getting to and building on the point. Requires a lot of patience to get through. I'm questioning the authenticity of the reviews because they don't seem to address the actual content of the book, and instead praise his personal brand.

Strictly for diehard fans of Mindvalley only.

No accompanying pdf for this Audlble. Not read by author. A lot of rehash and repeat of materials mentioned in author first book, Code of Extraordinary Mind. A lot of self promotion and marketing for Mindvalley products. Don't get this audiobook. Diehard fans should buy his book instead. I liked his first book, not this 2nd work.

The potential for a great book is in there

This is a good book. It could have been great, with the right additing.
Stories repeat themselves. Too much name dropping. Lots of cliché descriptions. Topics patched together loosely, like someone had his reasoning but didn't bother too much with tying things together.
BUT, it does worth your time and money. You will get inspired and learn, and find drive to change your life and your identity.
After "The Code of the Extraordinary Mind" by the same author, I had high expectations, but this book is not at the same level of writing. If you haven't read his previous book, start with that one.
Also, performance is terrible, slow and disengaging. if you choose to listen, play is faster...

it's a bit redundant if you read the code of an ex

This book it's ok and has some good insights but I didn't find it as nearly inspiring as the code of an extraordinary mind. That one is a book I'd recommend, this one is just ok, in my opinion.

Transform your life

The Buddha and the Badass is very similar to Vishen 's previous book but geared more towards business. while this is true on the surface, there is also more for the individual seeking to enrich their personal life as well.

Excellent Book - The You Side of an MBA

A good MBA program prepares us to be managers ready to make informed decisions and lead teams. This book is a good supplement to MBA studies because it provokes contemplation, reflection, and grounding of who You want to be as a leader. How do you want to show up in your organization.... and in life? What bad habits and old and unhelpful social conditioning are affecting us in the way we lead and the satisfaction we have in our roles? The author provides very helpful tools to begin a practice. I was hesitant about buying the book because of the title. I'm glad I didn't judge the book by the cover (or title).

How to Progress in the Current World State

I am going to get my gripe out of the way, Vishen should have read this. The narration felt like Alexa reading a book. Vishen is vibrant and has a unique cadence that brings his words to life which makes it easy to connect to what is being said.

I think this book is good for anyone looking to create in the world today. I listened through front to back. I found it helpful from a personal and professional stand point - who am I being and is it aligning with the goals I have set forth. Am I really making the difference I want. Am I impacting those around me the way I want. Am I really being true to myself.

I like how Vishen subtlety rocks the boat by questioning traditions or what's of thinking that no longer align with the fast performing world of today. If you are not true to you then you will sink and when you are at the bottom wondering why, the question becomes; where these your choices for you or where you emulating what others wanted and trying to fit in.

Another insightful piece of work.

Vishen does a great job of sharing tools to help us look inward for our answers. It’s is so freeing to let go of societal norms and BS rules to find clarity on our path. Loved the book. Loved the format and the extra tools. Took away a lot of new practices. Keep them coming Vishen we’re following.
