À propos de cet audio

In one of NPR's 100 Best Thrillers Ever, FBI agent Pendergast discovers thirty-six murdered bodies in a New York City charnel house...and now, more than a century later, a killer strikes again.

In an ancient tunnel underneath New York City, a charnel house is discovered.

Inside are thirty-six bodies—all murdered and mutilated more than a century ago.

While FBI agent Pendergast investigates the old crimes, identical killings start to terrorize the city.

The nightmare has begun.

Again.

Ce que les critiques en disent

"This is an intense and interesting story, entwining the quest for eternal life with the history of America, New York, and present-day politics and influence. Rene Auberjonois crafts his narration with great care; each word is voiced with perfect tone, pitch, and emotion, and each character is provided with a fitting personality. The result is narration that flows beautifully while providing insight into the story and those who inhabit it. Satisfyingly imbued with thrills and suspense, the prose is fully realized in Auberjonois's performance, and he even manages to make some of the more fantastic aspects seem reasonable. A totally engrossing experience."—AudioFile Magazine

Pretty good book, love that Pendergast! I enjoyed listening to this. Great narration and it keeps you guessing!

great book

While I enjoyed the story, I found it dragged in parts. The attention to detail is excessive in parts such as descriptions of every cabinet, shelf, and the content on so many bottles, boxes and jars. Details which added nothing to the story and sadly, makes one wonder if the authors are paid by the word. Of the 3 or 4 men who I have heard narrating these tales, this narrator is not my personal favourite. That be said, there was nothing so serious that I won't continue to listen to the books written by these authors. I have spent many wonderful hours listening to the Pendergast stories and will continue to do so, I'm sure!!!

Not My Favourite

The reader did EXCELLENT when reading the characters! But the narrative parts sounded terrible.
Just me maybe.

Narrator parts were awful

I liked the story itself, typical Agent Pendergast. However the reader spoilt it- a very flat and kind of annoying pattern of delivery, Also there were several instances where the dialogue suddenly repeated the previous line or two!!

The reading spoils a good story
