About this listen

Tegan is eight months pregnant, alone, and desperately wants to put her crumbling life in the rearview mirror. So she hits the road, planning to stay with her brother until she can figure out her next move. But she doesn't realize she's heading straight into a blizzard.

She never arrives at her destination.

Stranded in rural Maine with a dead car and broken ankle, Tegan worries she's made a terrible mistake. Then a miracle occurs: she is rescued by a couple who offers her a room in their warm cabin until the snow clears.

But something isn't right. Tegan believed she was waiting out the storm, but as time ticks by, she comes to realize she is in grave danger. This safe haven isn't what she thought it was, and staying here may have been her most deadly mistake yet.

And now she must do whatever it takes to save herself—and her unborn child.

A gut-wrenching story of motherhood, survival, and twisted expectations, #1 New York Times bestselling author Freida McFadden delivers a snowbound thriller that will chill you to the bone.

Slow moving

The story has potential but I found it slow moving. I do not like the narrator in this story. the whiny voice that she uses for the protagonist is absolutely irritating beyond belief

Not her best work

Definitely not my favorite from her, she could have done better. Basic storyline that is frustrating and predictable. Suspensful waiting for a twist, but too many obvious hints dropped to make it a surprise. I think the author needs to stop pushing out so many books each year and give her books more depth. Still going to read all her books though, her best work has her hooks in me.

This was very bland for a Freida book

This lacked her normal creativity. I can’t help but wonder if she’s focused on quantity over quality now that’s she’s pumping out multiple books in a year.

Another great novel from Frieda McFadden

Frieda McFadden’s The Crash is a gripping psychological thriller that had me hooked from start to finish. The story follows Tegan, a pregnant woman stranded after a car accident, who is taken in by a seemingly kind couple in their remote cabin. But as the storm rages on, she begins to suspect something sinister beneath their hospitality.

McFadden masterfully builds tension, keeping readers on edge with unexpected twists and dual perspectives that deepen the mystery. While some moments stretch believability, the suspense and fast-paced storytelling make up for it.

Overall, The Crash is a thrilling, addictive read—one of McFadden’s best yet!

Great twist!

Freida comes through again! Narration was a bit annoying. Very winey. But overall very good.

Slow

The book was fine but quite slow. The “twist” is not so much a twist but more of a reach in my opinion. Like last second they decided to throw it in. Also, I could not stand the voices in this!! The baby voice and all the whisper talking was painful.

Don’t waste your time with this one

I feel like this book was written by AI, so repetitive and juvenile.
I can’t believe I wasted a credit on it.

DNF

I didn't like the narrator and thought the unborn baby's POV was dumb. I couldn't even hate read this book.
