Publisher's Summary

Despite what you might have heard, diabetes is not a lifelong condition.

It does not have to shorten your life span or result in high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney failure, blindness, or other life-threatening ailments. In fact, most diabetics can get off medication and become 100 percent healthy in just a few simple steps. In The End of Diabetes, Dr. Joel Fuhrman shows how you can prevent and reverse diabetes and its related symptoms and lose weight in the process.

The End of Diabetes is a radical idea wrapped in a simple plan: Eat Better, End Diabetes. While the established medical protocol aims to control diabetes by limiting your carbohydrate intake, monitoring glucose levels, and prescribing bottomless doses of medicine, Dr. Fuhrman believes this long-standing approach to fighting diabetes is wrong - and possibly fatal.

Designed for anyone ready to enjoy a healthier and longer life, Dr. Fuhrman's plan is based on a single formula: Your Health Future (H) = Nutrients (N) / Calories (C). Foods with a high nutrient density, according to Dr. Fuhrman, turn our bodies into the miraculous, self-healing machines they can be, which results in significant weight loss, improved health, and, ultimately, the end of diabetes and other diseases.

In engaging, direct, and easy-to-follow language, The End of Diabetes supplies the science and clinical evidence to prove that diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure are not inevitable consequences of aging. They are reversible and preventable. This simple and effective plan offers great food, starts working right away, and puts you on a direct path to a longer, better, fuller, disease-free life.

Determined to reverse my daughters diabestes

This was an amazing book. I'm SO grateful to Dr. Fuhrman.
A friend of mine passed on the word of his book Eat to Live and when I researched it and came across The End of Diabetes I had to buy it immediately.
My daughter has diabetes and I've been determined to reverse it with natural means since she was diagnosed.
It's been an incredibly difficult, overwhelming, stressful experience and very steep learning curve as I knew nothing about Diabetes prior to her diagnosis.
I'd had a lot of success in improving her overall health related to the diabetes and getting her glucose levels under control with a plant based diet, however within a day or two with the menu items that Dr. Fuhrman recommends and speaks to there was an instant improvement in her readings.
I'm convinced that if I continue preparing the foods he suggests and following his meal plan that her next A1C will be remarkable and will be significantly reduced.
With the plant based diet our family doctor was amazed that she had such a tremendous reduction in her A1C levels and I was able to take her off some prescription medication. There was a slight glich and she had to have a minimal amount reintroduced.
My goal is NO prescription medication whatsoever and her diabetes to be reversed.
Thank you Dr. Fuhrman for this incredible information.
I have listened to your book repeatedly attempting to absorb every bit of information.
I also puchased the hardcover book.
I highly recommend this to anyone even if they don't have diabetes to improve and enhance your overwall health and wellbeing.
Life is SO worth being healthy and this book will help you achieve that.

with tremendous gratitude and appreciation,
Nansey Sinclaire

Total waste

I never thought I would call a book a waste of money. Written by an arrogant author who writes urban legend as if it was fact to try to substantiate his theories.

I found this to be interesting

I actually read this book three ways! Audible to see what it was like, as an e-book, decided it was worth a physical look. I borrowed it from my local library and discovered there was recipes I could try. I also bought it as an e-book so I could hi-light some sections. Overall a wealth of information and I continue to work on this way of eating.

Inspiring!

The author brings passion and personal experience to this subject. His advice provides hope in contrast to the approaches of the traditional medical establishment. The stories of the successes of his patients make accomplishing the goal of reserving diabetes believable.

Great book, lousy narration

The content is excellent. The narration is whiny and irritating to listen to. I wish Dr Fuhrman had done the narration himself.

Great book, horrible narrator

Where does The End of Diabetes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I am recently diagnosed with Type 2 and this book; although profoundly difficult, brings new hope. Still, I had to stop myself countless times from turning this audiobook off due to the pretentious nasal delivery of the reader. The material is important enough to get through but I will reference my paper back copy.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Joel Fuhrman and Chris Sorensen ?

Actually... Joel Fuhrman was quite good. I'd have him narrate the whole book. His summary at the end was quite refreshing and he did a good job of reading his own material.

It makes sense

I find all fad diets exhausting. The term 'paleo' makes me grind my teeth. This book feels more rational. We all know what is healthy and what isn't but we rarely follow that diet. I appreciated the real examples of how this nutritarian way of eating had so radically improved people's lives

Why is the author trying to sell me the book

I heard the first 90 minutes and the only thing I could hear was "How awesome is my diet". I get it, it works but now move and tell me about the diet.

A life plan not a diet plan to heal yourself.

I am a physician and this is the second book I have read by this author. This is not a diet but a healthy life plan. Choosing food that is good for you is smart. Realizing that my body doesn't really crave empty calories but really wants nutrients is brilliant.

Essentially the book breaks down food intake into two types, macronutrients and micronutrients. Macronutrients are the typical protein, fat, carbs, water, and vitamins. Micronutrients are all the good things in the healthiest vegetables.

Up until now when I dieted I would restrict my macronutrients and I would feel bad, get chills, crave food, and then eventually fail on my diet. I now realize that my body really craves micronutrients that are very low in calories. If I have just vegitable juice that is freshly prepared in the morning (32 ounces) I would be surprised if there were 100 calories. I do not feel hungry until lunch time. If I have a 500 calorie egg, toast, milk breakfast I am starving before lunch arrives. My body is more satisfied with low calorie nutritious vegetables than less healthy but higher calorie macronutrients.

Read the book. Reverse the damage that years of processed and packaged foods have done to your body and get off the road to diabetes.

I recommend this book to you and to all of my patients that are having weight issues.

Very well rounded book.

As a dietetics student I have been reading a variety of weight loss books. Unlike so many others, which use skepticism of the medical community or small studies that have not been replicated, this book has the research and science to back it up. If you have diabetes or pre-diabetes pick up this book and take charge of your health.

Excellent book on the subject

The book make it easy and simple to take this life saving decision. There are eating habits I thought were just fine but this book opened my eyes about them: one example is olive oil
