A WOMAN’S WORLD BEST NEW BOOK
"Heart-breaking, validating, exciting." (Hypable)
"Rich historical detail...this saga has it all." (Woman's World)
Shining a light on a little-known piece of history The Flight Girls is a sweeping portrayal of women's fearlessness, love, and the power of friendship to make us soar.
1941. Audrey Coltrane has always wanted to fly. It's why she implored her father to teach her at the little airfield back home in Texas. It’s why she signed up to train military pilots in Hawaii when the war in Europe began. And it’s why she insists she is not interested in any dream-derailing romantic involvements, even with the disarming Lieutenant James Hart, who fast becomes a friend as treasured as the women with whom she flies. Then one fateful day, she gets caught in the air over Pearl Harbor just as the bombs begin to fall, and suddenly, nowhere feels safe.
To make everything she’s lost count for something, Audrey joins the Women Airforce Service Pilots program. The bonds she forms with her fellow pilots reignite a spark of hope in the face war, and - when James goes missing in action - give Audrey the strength to cross the front lines and fight not only for her country, but for the love she holds so dear.
"Captivated me from the first page and never let go...a powerful tale of courage and sacrifice by the Women Airforce Service Pilots during WWII. A spectacular first novel." (Sara Ackerman, USA TODAY best-selling author of The Lieutenant's Nurse)

Fabulous work
From listen opposite I knew this would be a pretty interesting story, I didn't realize how much I would end up loving it though :) as a student who enjoys this time period I feel it did a really great job of giving you another perspective of what happened and what people went through during this time
All I can say is Fabulou's work :) brought me to tearsMany times

Wow !
I actually didn’t expect to like this book. But honestly the characters the storyline kept me hooked for two days straight I couldn’t shut it off.
It made me cry,it made me laugh, and it made me think about the past. What it must’ve been like to be a woman in an era that was still very much a man’s World.
I would highly recommend this book it’s not your typical of story.

Romance with a really good storyline
I had not realized that this was a romance but was very pleased that it was not the typical sappy book I got caught up with the characters and the lives of the women in the book

not enough flying
if you were expecting a different kind of adventure, you would be disappointed. It's a typical romance with loads of treacle prose. I was hoping for more fact, more stuff about the airplanes, and more non-traditional roles for women. Narrator was good, though.

Narrator Sounds Like a Sheep
A good story can be ruined with a crap narrator. This woman sounds like a weeping sheep. So wobbly and wavering in her voice, every word has an extra two syllables. I read the first half and listened to the remained of the book and I imagined these women as fierce, brave and strong. Not BAAAAA weeping woe-is-me sounding. Yuck. Worst audiobook ever.
