Publisher's Summary

Suspended from his job with the LAPD, Harry Bosch must face the darkest parts of his past to track down his mother's killer...even if it costs him his life.

Harry Bosch's life is on the edge. His earthquake-damaged home has been condemned. His girlfriend has left him. He's drinking too much. And after attacking his commanding officer, he's even had to turn in his L.A.P.D. detective's badge. Now, suspended indefinitely pending a psychiatric evaluation, he's spending his time investigating an unsolved crime from 1961: the brutal slaying of a prostitute who happened to be his own mother.

Even after three decades, Harry's questions generate heat among L.A.'s top politicos. And as the truth begins to emerge, it becomes more and more apparent that someone wants to keep it buried. Someone very powerful...very cunning...and very deadly.

Edgar Award-winning author Michael Connelly has created a dark, fast-paced suspense thriller that cuts to the core of Harry Bosch's character. Once you start it, there's no turning back.

What the critics say

"Grabs you and shakes you-and it feels great." (Kirkus Reviews)

"Connelly is at the top of his form in this brilliant mystery. Dick Hill does an outstanding job capturing Bosch's cynicism and anger, confusion and hurt. Hill changes his voice well to portray the other characters, most notably the female police psychiatrist...this is a first-rate production." (AudioFile)

"A powerful book." (Houston Chronicle)

Bosch at his finest

I read the paperback years ago, when I was just becoming familiar with the author and this series. I'm glad I returned to the audiobook. The thing that stands out most about this story is the richness, and the complexity of the story. Not complex in a bad way, but more in the scope of just how many lives, how many years, and how many individual decisions intertwine and reverberate throughout the world in which Bosch finds himself exploring. Connelly does a terrific job in this novel of fleshing out characters to make them believable and memorable, and also of weaving together the various threads of the case, and of the arc of Bosch's life story. I absolutely enjoyed this in all respects - the story, the twists and turns of the plot, and the narration.

A Thrilling Investigation into Justice: A Review

Harry Bosch is back and better than ever in Michael Connelly's The Last Coyote. This is the fourth book in the Harry Bosch series and it is my favorite of the first four books. The storyline of The Last Coyote is much better than what was portrayed in the TV series, with some key differences that only add to the excitement.

The story follows Harry Bosch as he investigates a decades-old case involving the murder of a young girl. He is determined to find her killer and bring him to justice, despite the obstacles he faces, including the LAPD's own internal politics and a mysterious figure from his past. Connelly does an excellent job of developing the characters and their relationships, making the story both thrilling and emotionally gripping.

The Last Coyote is an excellent addition to the Harry Bosch series and a great read overall. Connelly's writing is captivating and the story is full of suspense and intrigue. His characters are well-developed and their relationships are believable and meaningful. The Last Coyote is a must-read for fans of the Harry Bosch series and crime fiction in general. Highly recommended!

Good read

Although I normally don't read "series" books, I decided to give this Harry Bosch book a trial. He was "out of the office", working off the grid so to speak, and I really enjoyed it. The story was different than normal Bosch books, the narrator was excellent in his portrayal of all personalities, Enjoy. #Audible1

Another great Bosch book

The story was great. However the audio quality isn't as good as other audiobooks. Although I did get used to it after a chapter or two.
