Publisher's Summary

INSPIRATION FOR THE ORIGINAL SERIES THE LINCOLN LAWYER—COMING SOON TO NETFLIX

Lincoln Lawyer Mickey Haller is back on the job in this heart-stopping thriller from a renowned #1 New York Times bestselling author.

“One of the finest legal thrillers of the last decade” —Associated Press

On the night he celebrates a big win, defense attorney Mickey Haller is pulled over by police, who find the body of a former client in the trunk of his Lincoln. Haller is immediately charged with murder but can’t post the exorbitant $5 million bail slapped on him by a vindictive judge.

Mickey elects to represent himself and is forced to mount his defense from his jail cell in the Twin Towers Correctional Center in downtown Los Angeles. All the while he needs to look over his shoulder—as an officer of the court he is an instant target, and he makes few friends when he reveals a corruption plot within the jail.

But the bigger plot is the one against him. Haller knows he’s been framed, whether by a new enemy or an old one. As his trusted team, including his half-brother, Harry Bosch, investigates, Haller must use all his skills in the courtroom to counter the damning evidence against him.

Even if he can obtain a not-guilty verdict, Mickey understands that it won’t be enough. In order to be truly exonerated, he must find out who really committed the murder and why. That is the law of innocence.

In his highest stakes case yet, the Lincoln Lawyer fights for his life and proves again why he is “a worthy colleague of Atticus Finch . . . in the front of the pack in the legal thriller game” (Los Angeles Times).

Enjoy the reading of this book.

Great reading, good narrator. I am accustomed to reading Bosh books, so his absence was noticeable. I would recommend the book to those who follow Michael Connelly's writing.

Another mind-blowing story

Again, the author has managed to surprise me, with an unexpected scenario, casted in our current times. I love how we can see the main cast still present (I wish Cisco had more work! I love him), how they have grown. The author masterfully brings in actual topics such as the malconducts of the judicial system, or arbitrary police arrests. The book will keep you on edge!

A law unto himself! Great read

Talk about high stakes! Connelly's writing and plot are pretty sharp! This one (almost) feels like a penultimate series finale! Having read all the Lincoln Lawyer books, I'm loving how there's enough history with the character and Connelly's LA to dip back and bring a few old heroes and villains from previous books and follow up with them in the present. I love it when new books really fully acknowledge the history and previous cases. Previous cases to figure prominently in this one, but it's still breaks new ground. Though I felt it ended a *bit* suddenly, I couldn't turn it off.

Peter Giles is awesome, and along with Titus Welliver for the Bosch books are my favourite performers, and he makes Mickey his own. Matthew McConna--who? (well, he's good, Giles is better)

Lastly, this was the first Lincoln Lawyer novel I got the moment it came out, and I felt a visceral reaction when Haller hears about COVID 19's outbreak on the news. That moment feels locked in time and a great backdrop to the court action.

Looking forward to everything that Connelly is involved with!

The Best Lincoln Lawyer Book yet!

Great story that seamlessly and accurately traces back to other Lincoln Lawyer books bringing an extremely believable story. Mickey Haller faces his toughest challenge that ultimately he was fully responsible for.

excellent book....LOVE Mickey Haller!!

the narrator is at times overly dramatic, and I found him annoying to start, but he actually did a pretty good job of making the characters sound different from each other.....with the exception of the women....they sounded breathless, hesitant and "fluffy". Mind you, his "interpretation" of the judge was excellent! the story was so well written that it overcame any annoyance I had initially with the narrator!

Great Read

This was a great read and an interesting tall. I have read most of these books, by this author, however this is the first book that made remarks about the political situation in the United States. This I did not feel this should be in this book by this author. Very unprofessional.
