About this listen
From the New York Times best-selling author of the "pulse-quickening" (Good Housekeeping UK) In a Dark, Dark Wood and The Woman in Cabin 10 comes Ruth Ware's highly anticipated third novel, featuring her signature "verve and energy" (Library Journal).
On a cool June morning, Isa Wilde, a resident of the seemingly idyllic coastal village of Salten, is walking her dog along a tidal estuary. Before she can stop him, Isa's dog charges into the water to retrieve what first appears to be a wayward stick - and to her horror, Isa discovers it's not a stick at all...but a human bone. As her three best friends from childhood converge in Salten to comfort a seriously shaken-up Isa, terrifying discoveries are made, and their collective history slowly unravels.
Tackling the slipperiness of memories, the relativity of truth, and the danger of obsessive friendships, The Lying Game is a gripping mystery with compelling characters and electric prose, resulting in a can't-stop-listening thriller.

Surprised by how much I enjoyed it
I’d read lots of reviews from folks thoroughly disappointed with this one - I’ve listened to all of the others from Ruth Ware, and I absolutely LOVE Imogen Church (so much that I’m now finding books read/performed by her as my new selection criteria haha) so I wanted to give it a go. And I really enjoyed The Lying Game - the characters, the story (sure the regular flaws but not so bad, and a twist at the end that I didn’t foresee). I enjoyed it more so and than the Woman In Cabin 10, which has become my least fav of the 4.

Loved it.
I felt like hearing a Ruth Ware story, and this certainly delivered. And listening to Imogen Church is always great. Loved the last « page ». Well done

Nothing Special
I was not impressed with this read. Parts were hard to get through, and the ending felt sloppy and thrown together. Would not recommend.

Captivating
As with all of Ruth Ware's books I find myself inexplicably unable to put them down/pause. The reading by Imogen Church added a color I didnt know I needed, insightful and expressive. 10/10 have recommended to friends.

Well written but I found it boring
I really wanted to like this one because it was so well written and the narration was great but the story line dragged on for way too long. It was a hit of a snooze fest for me. Was waiting for something exciting to happen but was disappointed. Will pass on the recommendation on this one.

Got Lost In It
I read some previous reviews and yes, I think a couple parts could have been taken out but I completely got lost in these characters, their issues, and the main settings. For a while, I wondered what the significance was of throwing a baby into the mix, but it comes together at the end.

pass on this one!
Like many other reviewers, this was not Ruths best writing. the story is just SO boring and hollow. I recommend any of her other books though!
