Publisher's Summary

Two best-selling Agatha Christie novels in one great audiobook.

The Man in the Brown Suit is Agatha Christie at her best, as a young woman makes a dangerous decision to investigate a shocking “accidental” death she witnesses at a London tube station.

Pretty, young Anne came to London looking for adventure. In fact, adventure comes looking for her - and finds her immediately at Hyde Park Corner tube station. Anne is present on the platform when a thin man, reeking of mothballs, loses his balance and is electrocuted on the rails.

The Scotland Yard verdict is accidental death. But Anne is not satisfied. After all, who was the man in the brown suit who examined the body? And why did he race off, leaving a cryptic message behind: "17-122 Kilmorden Castle"?

Now a feature film from Sony Pictures starring Christina Hendricks, Gillian Anderson, and Glenn Close.

Described by the Queen of Mystery herself as one of her favorites of her published works, Crooked House is a classic Agatha Christie thriller revolving around a devastating family mystery.

The Leonides are one big happy family living in a sprawling, ramshackle mansion. That is until the head of the household, Aristide, is murdered with a fatal barbiturate injection.

Suspicion naturally falls on the old man’s young widow, 50 years his junior. But the murderer has reckoned without the tenacity of Charles Hayward, fiancé of the late millionaire’s granddaughter.

“Writing Crooked House was pure pleasure and I feel justified in my belief that it is one of my best.” (Agatha Christie)

Loved the narration entirely

Emelia Fox is a wonderful narrator. My cat and I can listen to her all day, every day. The Man in the Brown Suit narrative had me immersed in the story from start to finish.

Agatha Christie does it again

I enjoyed both these stories. although I found both there endings to be slightly less climatic.

the man in the brown suit was entertaining but didn't leave me guessing who the killer could be as we were constantly being introduced to new characters along the journey.

the crooked house did leave me guessing but the reveal felt rushed and lack luster. but I still didn't guess it, so I guess it was still a surprise.

I liked them and will likely read them again, but I wouldn't put them as my absolute favorite Christie novels

Both fantastic stories

I’d read these before - Agatha Christie is such a fantastic storyteller - you just don’t see it coming but when you know the solution you say oh but of course

Get it for Crooked House and cool villains

2 stars for The Man in the Brown Suit .
The beginning was entertaining enough but, once the romance was introduced, the main character stopped making sense to me. I was also very disappointed by Race's character (un)development. But a couple of secondary characters and the great narration made this worthwhile.

4 stars for Crooked House.
I really missed Poirot but I enjoyed the plot.

5 stars to both narrators.

Hit and miss

I’m sad to say that The Man in the Brown Suit is my least favourite Agatha Christie novel (which is saying something, since I’ve been a big fan of her work for over 15 years). I didn’t like the main character and found it difficult to keep track of all the twists and turns in the plot. I wish it had been more of a whodunit. At the end of the novel, the “grand reveal” was lacklustre and I couldn’t bring myself to care about these characters the way I do in other Agatha Christie books. I also wasn’t a big fan of the female narration, but I could be biased because I’ve listened to a lot of Hugh Fraser in my time.

However, Crooked House was an absolute slam-dunk!! I can’t say enough good about it. It was a real page-turner (so to speak) and I was absolutely enthralled from beginning to end. This is now one of my top few favourite Agatha Christie books!

If you have the opportunity, I recommend getting Crooked House separately and not wasting your time on The Man in the Brown Suit.
