A Mental Torture

This is not relaxing at all. This is a mental torture. A spooky voice whispering and playing the sounds of paper, envelops, bubble wraps etc that sounds unusually long and irritating when compared to the sounds they make in real world.

The Office is not all that interesting

Will Watt has a calm & deep voice but the story was a bit creepy to me. Not sure if I triggered any ASMR. Oh well.

This Works!

I have yet to hear the end. However, there is a silent period followed by a rather abrupt reentry to dialogue, thus not a perfect rating.

Effective

The Office is a very well done ASMR reading. It a nice short storey read in a near normal voice. As a result your not tempted to try to understand every word or guess storey...nice background story. Unfortunately the 3 other stories in the set are narrated in an unnatural whisper which is not enjoyable.

Great voice but sounds distracting

Would love to know who the voice actor was. Their voice was helping me fall asleep but the noise of the various office supplies kept me from actually falling asleep.

Induces anxiety and ASMR in equal measures

The voice is calming and the sounds are some classics for ASMR. The scenario that unfolds and the related visualizations, however, were laughably un-relaxing. Going to a professor's office to watch him grade my assignment in front of me, then wrapping my head in tissue paper while whispering in my ears is... undesirable.

Headline

Not really my cup of tea, maybe fine for others. Felt like I was about to get molested within the first 30 seconds of entering the office.

Terrifying narration!

The narrator should be reading horror stories. He sounds like a psychopath who sneaks up and grabs someone from behind and then whispers horrifying threats into the victim’s ear while holding a knife to the terrified person’s throat. Just a few minutes of this was enough to give me nightmares. How is the content? I have no idea. I was too busy freaking out and tearing my headphones off.

This Works So Well I Don't Know What It's About

I'm a lifelong insomniac, and I try everything I hear about to try to sleep. Last night I decided to try this new gift from Audible. I was gone in under ten minutes. I woke up again (as usual) and tried it again. Usually nothing works twice. But amazingly, I conked out again! So then I woke up again, too early (as usual), and played it a third time. Miracle! I was sound asleep in just a few minutes! For someone with all three types of insomnia, this is incredible. So I may never hear the ending of The Office...in fact, I hope I never do hear the ending of The Office! Thank you, Audible and Will Watt.

The First Ever ARMRtist Audiobook?

Whisperlodge's The Office (2020) is the first ever audiobook that is an actual ASMRtist performance to my knowledge. Narrator Will Watt taps or riffles through various office objects while also describing the history and the nature of the ASMR experience. He speaks in a soft-voiced tone instead of the whispered voice which is the most common in YouTube ASMRtist videos. I still found the resulting effect to be almost continuous throughout the audiobook, the ASMR tingles were constantly present but would peak in waves when a change of object was introduced.

The above will be a complete mystery to those who don't experience the sensation, but the effectiveness of the performance here earns an easy 5 star rating for its relaxation and euphoric qualities.

Super Weird and Even More Creepy

I felt like he was one of my teachers trying to molest me. I’m not sure how this supposed to help you sleep , because it made me nervous.

Proof Will Watt is the best voice for everything!

I found Will Watt as a voice actor from his audiobooks, and so this was a real change of pace for me but I absolutely loved it! First time I had heard of ASMR actually so I didn't know what I was getting into but it was like magic! xxx

Surprised!

Didn't think ASMR was for me. Had seen a few videos online and it always seemed weird, but this was WAY better! I understand a lot more about ASMR now and see why it helps make many people relaxed. Definitely want to listen to more of these.

Truly amazing narration.

Will Watt provides the most relaxing performance I’ve ever heard. His voice is like warm melted butter. His narration put me in the most relaxed state I’ve ever been in. I felt like he was in the room with me, personally whispering into my ear. Truly amazing!

Excellent

This audiobook is extremely well read and works miracles. I had never tried ASMR before that one and suffered terrible insomnias. Now I sleep like a baby. It's just a shame that the other audiobooks from Whisperlodge are not available in France. :(
