what a terrible book!

I can't believe the reviews! this is hands down the worst book I've read. SO boring. The author must have decided that a shocking ending will make up for a drabby book

a little long, but worth the twist!

I could feel this character in myself! trying just to make it through the day with kids and a small business. I could feel her frustration! it's a great story. I guessed the ending but then assumed I was wrong, only to be proven right. very good narrator!

Solid Psychological Thriller

I have a weakness for British narrated psychological thrillers. I can't help it. They are my guilty pleasure. 'The Perfect Family' is different. Yes, a child is missing but the child is found right away- and that's just the beginning of the problems that faces our family.

This is fairly fast paced with interesting characters, and although I figured out the ending before 'the twist,' there were a few things that were a surprise.

Having said this, I've never read a Shalina Boland book before, and I will definitely be ordering more. I enjoyed her style, her pace, and the story was very good. I would recommend this to any fan of psychological thrillers.

4 solid stars,

Loved it.

Great story. Loved the plot. Felt bad for the children. Loved the twist. I knew it couldn’t be as it seemed, so I was excited when it was revealed.

Tired story, done over and over and over again

Books like this, with a four star average review, make me question audible audiences! This story was predictable, unrealistic and honestly, dumb. No “shocking ending” - a villain was thrown In although we didn’t know hardly anything about this person.
This was a bad Deja vu to the DOZENS of terrible *domestic dramas*, same but different, trying to appeal to the “if you loved Gone Girl, you’ll LOVE this!” audience.

Save the credit. Seriously.

Fantastic all around

This is my first listen to Shalini Boland, at the epilogue, I had figured it out, but was pulled in a whole another direction in the last chapter.

As of this review I am now a BIG FAN of Katie Villa Fantastic narration!!

It was great! Best one yet.

I've listened to all of Shalini Boland's books, and I think this is her best yet. You know what I loved about this book? That the female character wasn't a hand-wringing, mousy, intimidated woman with zero self confidence or backbone. That seems to be the trend these days with psychological thrillers, and nothing annoys me more than a helpless protagonist who whines and cries and convinces herself she's going crazy without taking any decisive action. But not this book, much to my delight. Gemma is a strong, capable, savvy business woman who knows when red flags are going up, and she's determined to take control and put a stop to things. It was refreshing to read a book like this. I mean, strong women can be victims of psychotics, too, you know. =) Some psychological thrillers have plots that don't even seem plausible, but this one was pretty realistic. The narration was terrific, and I listened nearly straight through. It was one of those "unputdownable" books. The only downside was that I figured out the ending pretty early on in the book, which didn't distract from the story. But it IS more fun having a storyline that totally takes you off guard at the end. Still, this was a winner. Highly recommend.
