Publisher's Summary

Witness the epic final chapter of the Skywalker saga with the official novelization of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, including expanded scenes and additional content not seen in theaters!

The Resistance has been reborn. But although Rey and her fellow heroes are back in the fight, the war against the First Order, now led by Supreme Leader Kylo Ren, is far from over. Just as the spark of rebellion is rekindling, a mysterious signal broadcasts throughout the galaxy, with a chilling message: Emperor Palpatine, long thought defeated and destroyed, is back from the dead.

Has the ancient Lord of the Sith truly returned? Kylo Ren cuts a swath of destruction across the stars, determined to discover any challenge to his control over the First Order and his destiny to rule over the galaxy - and crush it completely. Meanwhile, to discover the truth, Rey, Finn, Poe, and the Resistance must embark on the most perilous adventure they have ever faced.

Featuring all-new scenes adapted from never-before-seen material, deleted scenes, and input from the filmmakers, the story that began in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and continued in Star Wars: The Last Jedi reaches an astounding conclusion.

I already hated the movie, the book made it worse

Marc Thompson is a great narrator, and I think Rae Carson is a good writer, but this movie was not good at all.

Great novelization

As usual, the accompanying expanded novelization adds a lot to a movie that had to be cut down to under 3 hours. So much detail was included here, I'd highly recommend it for any Star Wars fan, whether you liked the movie or not.

great end to the Skywalker saga.

If you are in your homes, and can't wait until the film comes out on blue ray, or streaming on Disney plus, you have the final tale of the Skywalker family.

Nope!

I've read/listened to 90% of the Star Wars books. I'm a devoted EU fan. I did not watch the movie. This book was garbage. Too much to complain about. I apologize to the author and especially the voice talent, it's not their fault. Congrats putting a golden shine on a turd. I do not say this lightly. And don't ever mouth Chewie's words again. Save it for the movies.

Better than the movie

Goes a lot more in depth than the movie does. Will miss these characters and hope they show up in future Star Wars movies/TV series

Thanks, I hate it

I thoroughly dislike TROS as a movie. So, of course I would dislike this book. I'm very happy that there are people who like it, though. I wish I did. As a book, if you put the story away for a minute, it's well written, and doesn't require a lot of focus to understand what's going on. On another note, it's the first time that Marc Thompson bothers me a bit, but I'm sure that it's because I'm biased. Although, I don't like how he voices female characters. But what can I do about that ?
All in all, it's a bad story but it manages to have a few good moments, although I can count them on one hand, out of over ten hours of listening to it.

Rae Carson's previous Star Wars book, "Most Wanted", is excellent. This one I don't like at all, but she didn't have any say in it. I read some things she said on social media, and it sort of sounds like she's projecting a bit on the characters, but that's just how I see it. I do think that she was the right person for the job, though. It just isn't for me.

A Young 👑's (Rey) look for a Whill Journal!)

For a third spin on an iconic and extraordinary universally acknowledged family saga across the stars, the magnitude of potential is still quite alive and vibrant!) Although this is in a sense the combination and manifestation of the personal vision of Mr. George Lucas, Jr., an all time great of storytelling and Living Legacy for generations, the politics and mentalities going into it is what ultimately creates that need and void for greater. It's phenomenal to be able to truly listen to all nine pieces of this story that has changed the Ballgame forever, and the Improvement through the family fandom and even through the names presently, past, and future with the responsibility of shaping and paving are to do so with ❤ and character!) Redeeming moves and revitalizing moments are definitely in store for a Galaxy not far away or long ago at all, and if there's anything or even just a Timeless message that "The Star Wars", "Blue Harvest," and "The Journal of the Whills," proves to be accurate and true, is that the impossible is impossible and the possibilities are as vast and endless and everlasting as the living Force and Spirit of Holy flow! ~King B. Johnson and Family!)

Great Story with so much more insights - Oh Hell Yes!

If you're a fan - you'll love it. All the SW books always have so much more to the story and this one is no different and really adds so much depth to it. You'll want to listen again and again.
