Publisher's Summary

Bestselling author S. A. Chakraborty’s acclaimed Daevabad Trilogy gets expanded with this new compilation of stories from before, during, and after the events of The City of Brass, The Kingdom of Copper, and The Empire of Gold, all from the perspective of characters both beloved and hated, and even those without a voice in the novels. The River of Silver gathers material both seen and new—including a special coda fans will need to read—making this the perfect complement to those incredible novels.

Now together in one place, these stories of Daevabad enrich a world already teeming with magic and wonder. Explore this magical kingdom, hidden from human eyes. A place where djinn live and thrive, fight and love. A world where princes question their power, and powerful demons can help you…or destroy you.

A prospective new queen joins a court whose lethal history may overwhelm her own political savvy…

An imprisoned royal from a fallen dynasty and a young woman wrenched from her home cross paths in an enchanted garden…

A pair of scouts stumble upon a secret in a cursed winter wood that will turn over their world…

From Manizheh’s first steps towards rebellion to adventures that take place after The Empire of Gold, this is a must-have collection for those who can’t get enough of Nahri, Ali, and Dara and all that unfolded around them.

Beautifully Written Bonus Content

I’m a huge fan of the CITY OF BRASS series, so reading more bonus content was an absolute joy. Each scene and short story is beautifully written, magical, emotional, and thrilling. I adored this addition so much and recommend it to all CITY OF BRASS fans!

More than the cutting room floor

I loved all the books of the Daevabad Trilogy and I was excited to read some more stories about this world. I have to say, however, that I felt like the first parts of this book were not really 'stories', but snippets from the cutting room floor - sort of a deleted scenes reel. And this disappointed me. The love story, for instance between Rustem and Nariye's mother is an important story that we only get glimpses of in the book, and the little snippet about this is good but not a full story. This could easily been expanded into the full love story and tragic ending.
I understand that writers often write parts of a story so that they understand the background of characters and that those parts often are not necessary in the book, but to present them as additional stories is an exaggeration at best. The exception to this is the last two entries. I like the 'alternate' view of Dara teaming up with unlikely partners to pursue his enemy.
I did enjoy hearing about my 'old friends' from Daevabad, but this could have been something better.
I look forward eagerly, however, to Ms. Chakraborty's next book.
