About this listen

A sinner’s only hope is true love in this passionate new novel in J.R. Ward’s #1 New York Times bestselling Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Syn has kept his side hustle as a mercenary a secret from the Black Dagger Brotherhood. When he takes another hit job, he not only crosses the path of the vampire race’s new enemy, but also that of a half-breed in danger of dying during her transition. Jo Early has no idea what her true nature is, and when a mysterious man appears out of the darkness, she is torn between their erotic connection and the sense that something is very wrong.

Fate anointed Butch O’Neal as the Dhestroyer, the fulfiller of the prophecy that foresees the end of the Omega. As the war with the Lessening Society comes to a head, Butch gets an unexpected ally in Syn. But can he trust the male—or is the warrior with the bad past a deadly complication?

With time running out, Jo gets swept up in the fighting and must join with Syn and the Brotherhood against ultimate evil. In the end, will love true prevail...or was the prophecy wrong all along?

What the critics say

"Set in a world in which vampires are living unbeknownst to humans, this action-packed story starts at full throttle. Narrator Jim Frangione quickly draws listeners into the action. When Syn, a vampire, encounters Jo, a reporter, he feels an immediate bond with her. But she is unaware of her status as a half-breed vampire. Frangione gives Syn a deep, powerful voice that suggests his well-muscled physique. As the war between the vampires comes to a head, another vampire, Butch, is leading the battle. Butch is from Boston, and Frangione gives him such a classic Boston accent that listeners might imagine him sporting a Red Sox cap. The audiobook is packed with tension, passion, and moments of humor, and Frangione easily negotiates the varied emotions."

Seeing yourself through someone elses eyes and it being life altering, for good or bad. Thankfully it worked well for Syn and Joe. I have been on a BDB binge listening to all the books from the beginning bumbed out now that I have to wait till April. Looking I think to start the Prison camp books.

5 Blue Roses

3.5 to 4 Blue Flames

Narrator Jim Frangione hit this one right out of the ballpark. Far out. That ball is gone, never to be seen again. His ability to draw out the tension and lightning fast change over to all seriousness, bringing the dark humor into the light, is absolutely fucking a-ma-zing! I listened to him at 1.25 speed. It is a total pleasure listening to him. I am all goosebumps, even the fine hair down on my pinkie toes are standing up and whimpering to his beautiful baritone.

The Sinner was all about metaphors. I wish I knew how many metaphors the author truly used. I found it extremely funny and entertaining. I loved the double entendre and even triple entendres. Persons who are unfamiliar with the hidden or alternative meanings may fail to detect or observe the humor. The wordplay and innuendos was almost the death of me. It’s not healthy to laugh so many hours non-stop. Myocardial muscle rupture is most definitely a cause of instant death, especially if it’s familial.

For those who follow the series, and the Fallen Angels series. Shit is hitting a three way junction here. Major key players are taking their places on the JR Ward chess board. As I said, highly entertaining. It seems we have lift off, no more dull slumming from a few books ago.

I absolutely recommend this audiobook, it’s a healthy dose of sarcasm and funny escape from our sad daily reality.
