Publisher's Summary

A sinner’s only hope is true love in this passionate new novel in J. R. Ward’s number-one New York Times best-selling Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Syn has kept his side hustle as a mercenary a secret from the Black Dagger Brotherhood. When he takes another hit job, he not only crosses the path of the vampire race’s new enemy, but also that of a half-breed in danger of dying during her transition. Jo Early has no idea what her true nature is, and when a mysterious man appears out of the darkness, she is torn between their erotic connection and the sense that something is very wrong.

Fate anointed Butch O’Neal as the Dhestroyer, the fulfiller of the prophecy that foresees the end of the Omega. As the war with the Lessening Society comes to a head, Butch gets an unexpected ally in Syn. But can he trust the male - or is the warrior with the bad past a deadly complication?

With time running out, Jo gets swept up in the fighting and must join with Syn and the Brotherhood against true evil. In the end, will love true prevail...or was the prophecy wrong all along?

oh so good

this story is the kind of good that makes you want to redo the entire series but also let you appreciate that this is not a book you could one off if you had a friend who wasn't sure and you didn't have access to the first book you could do this one it would tell him the ending but it would also give them a new beginning.

equal parts hot and steamy romantic and violent this story is the quintessential black brotherhood daggers book I loved it.

Holy Scribe Virgin

Hoe DOES she do it?! J R Ward has kept the brotherhood rolling with 17 books and this one measures up to one of my favorites serving the stage for new characters and stories to come. Good riddance to some real baddies and welcome to more family connections. Love the ‘young’. Love the good healers as well as those BDB fighters. Read it. Five stars.

Sweet Caroline

First of all JR Ward has once again created a beautiful number one book. Second of all I am 100% sure the Virgin Scribe Has a prescription of Xanax or has her own version of hand rolls.
Every book I hope John Matthew will be able to speak and Wrath will be able to see. Even though it’s short-lived it was well worth it. I am already excited for the next book in the series and the new adventure the BDB will be part of.
Did I mention I am still in tears❤️

The Sinner

This book overall was good, I am glad the Destroyer prophecy finally comes into play. It feels like we have been waiting forever for it.

Normally I can’t get enough of the BDB book and I finish it the day of release but this book dragged for me. I loved the story but it took a long time to get to the point.
I missed some of our favorite characters from the series, we had so much blank space I wished we could have had a scene or two with them so it didn't feel so empty.

I loved the Jo and Syn relationship but again so much space was taken up before we get to the meat of it all.

That ending though I swear to god, instant tears and because of the ending I am bumping up my rating to a 4.

Again no one could be the brothers but Jim, he is the Brothers in my book.

Another beautifully told story by JR Ward and brought to life by Jim Frangione. I got pissed, I laughed, I cried, I lived it and loved it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I never got a warm fuzzy feel from the Band of Bastards, always felt they where rude, crude and uncouth so starting this story I wasn’t expecting a lot. I was also kind of dreading this story I felt maybe we where nearing the end of one of my favorite series. This story gave a new insight to Syn one of the band, Jo Early and his slow burn romance with her, who, (no spoilers) has a much deeper connection with the BDB. We get to know first hand the once long time threat to the BDM and all of the race has been eliminated but not as it was originally perceived and a new challenge is in the horizon, in the way of a character from The Fallen Angel series, again (no spoilers). So my fear of the end hopefully Is null and void hooray.
Jim Frangione who I honestly feel helps make these stories and characters real for me, did a fantastic job narrating.

Ward Does It Again

The Band of Bastards seem more serious than the Brothers so Syn does not have the humor or lightheartedness we have come to expect. I appreciate greatly that Ward writes unique characters so I am totally ok with this. Lassiter is almost always good for a few laughs. Also the subject matter outside of the romance is very, very serious, There is a huge shift in the entire series story arch. I enjoyed Syn and Jo, but felt their connection was second to everything else going on. Ward's later books in this series are more diverse in the story telling and you get time with several characters and not only focus on the main love interests. I truly loved getting to visit all the other characters.

As always Jim Frangione is perfection- we got so lucky we have him for all the novels.

I don't want to spoil anything but know that for any BDB fan this is a truly amazing -and surprising- listen.
