Publisher's Summary

Screams ring out in a madhouse as a man shoots his best friend in cold blood. What drives him to such a desperate act? Greed? Jealousy? Madness? Or a woman? A woman said to have mystical powers, in league with the darkest forces of the cosmos? Is the gunman’s testimony the invention of a calculating killer, or is he another victim of a supreme evil that lurks unseen among us?

Great rendition of a mediocre story

If you need to complete your HPLHS collection or just like Thing On The Doorstep in general this is a fine version, but I find it pretty dry in comparison to say, the HPLHS version of Witch House which is a mediocre story that HPLHS elevates to a level beyond that of the original text to one of my favourite Lovecraft stories. This one is fine if you're really looking for some cheap thrills but there's really no horror or suspense here in the tale despite the wonderful performances by the cast.
