Publisher's Summary

When she was 9 years old, Melody Browne's house burned down, and it took all of her childhood memories with it. Now she's a single mother of a teenage boy living in Central London. She hasn't seen her parents since she left home at 15, but she doesn't mind. She's better off on her own. She works as a dinner lady at her son's school and has no idea where her humdrum life is heading. But one summer's night, a hypnotist inadvertently unlocks memories of her childhood, and her whole life is turned upside down.

At first, these new memories mean nothing to her, but as Melody slowly begins to piece together the real story of her childhood, she begins to uncover mystery after mystery and wonders if she'll ever know the truth about her past...

Utterly CONFUSED w all the 5 stars ...

This book was touted as a slow start w a gripping follow through ... that was NOT the case!! This story was slow, boring and completely pointless. I stuck around to the end thinking I'd redeem my already-invested time to no avail!! Absolute waste of time, the truth about melody brown is so lackluster, I didn't need to uncover it!! Would not recommend :(

Very twisted story

Well performed, well written story. It's an escape read, and not too difficult to listen.

Excellent

What a beautiful unique way to tell a story from a child’s eyes. It’s achieved the desired effect.

The story pulled me in and I couldn’t stop listening. It made me cry, grate my teeth, and swear out loud. A great read and the narration was excellent.

Was soooooo slowwwww

The story was....okay. Nothing fantastic. This book seemed to drag on forever. I kept listening because I had already invested so much time into it, but I was glad when it was over. I think it would have been much better condensed into half the book.

Interesting concept

It is an interesting story concept, but not structured well. The story jumped between the past and present too frequently and seemed to run out of steam towards the end. Well read though and kept me entertained for a few hours
