Story
In The Madness of Crowds Douglas Murray investigates the dangers of ‘woke’ culture and the rise of identity politics. In lively, razor-sharp prose he examines the most controversial issues of our moment: sexuality, gender, technology and race, with interludes on the Marxist foundations of ‘wokeness’, the impact of tech and how, in an increasingly online culture, we must relearn the ability to forgive.

The Strange Death of Europe is a highly personal account of a continent and culture caught in the act of suicide. Declining birth rates, mass immigration, and cultivated self-distrust and self-hatred have come together to make Europeans unable to argue for themselves and incapable of resisting their own comprehensive alteration as a society and an eventual end.

Story
Leading a cultural revolution driven by identity politics and so-called 'social justice', the new puritanism movement is best understood as a religion - one that makes grand claims to moral purity and tolerates no dissent. In The New Puritans, Andrew Doyle powerfully examines the underlying belief-systems of this ideology and how it has risen so rapidly to dominate all major political, cultural and corporate institutions. He reasons that, to move forward, we need to understand where these New Puritans came from and what they hope to achieve.

For generations, everything has been getting faster, better, and cheaper. Finally, we reached the point that almost anything you could ever want could be sent to your home within days—even hours—of when you decided you wanted it. America made that happen, but now America has lost interest in keeping it going. Peter Zeihan maps out the next world: a world where countries or regions will have no choice but to make their own goods, grow their own food, secure their own energy, fight their own battles, and do it all with populations that are both shrinking and aging.

Story
Gender identity ideology is about more than Twitter storms and using the right pronouns. In just 10 years, laws, company policies, school and university curricula, sport, medical protocols, and the media have been reshaped to privilege self-declared gender identity over biological sex. People are being shamed and silenced for attempting to understand the consequences of redefining "man" and "woman". While compassion for transgender lives is well-intentioned, it is stifling much-needed inquiry into the significance of our bodies.

Critical race theory is one of the hottest and most controversial topics in the world today, but what is it, really? Rightly understood, critical race theory is a reinvention of an older, terrible idea, Marxism, using race "as the central construct for understanding inequality" in place of economic class. That is, critical race theory is race Marxism. The evidence of this claim is so overwhelming upon even casual examination that it is a shock that it isn't immediately plain to everyone who encounters it.

The Vision of the Anointed is a devastating critique of the mindset behind the failed social policies of the past thirty years. Thomas Sowell sees what has happened not as a series of isolated mistakes, but as a logical consequence of a vision whose defects have led to disasters in education, crime, family disintegration, and other social pathology. In this book, "politically correct" theory is repeatedly confronted with facts-and sharp contradictions between the two are explained in terms of a whole set of self-congratulatory assumptions held by political and intellectual elites.

Publisher's Summary
An Instant New York Times Bestseller!
China has concentration camps now. Why do Westerners claim our sins are unique?
It is now in vogue to celebrate non-Western cultures and disparage Western ones. Some of this is a much-needed reckoning, but much of it fatally undermines the very things that created the greatest, most humane civilization in the world.
In The War on the West, Douglas Murray shows how many well-meaning people have been fooled by hypocritical and inconsistent anti-West rhetoric. After all, if we must discard the ideas of Kant, Hume, and Mill for their opinions on race, shouldn’t we discard Marx, whose work is peppered with racial slurs and anti-Semitism? Embers of racism remain to be stamped out in America, but what about the raging racist inferno in the Middle East and Asia?
It’s not just dishonest scholars who benefit from this intellectual fraud but hostile nations and human rights abusers hoping to distract from their own ongoing villainy. Dictators who slaughter their own people are happy to jump on the “America is a racist country” bandwagon and mimic the language of antiracism and “pro-justice” movements as PR while making authoritarian conquests.
If the West is to survive, it must be defended. The War on the West is not only an incisive takedown of foolish anti-Western arguments but also a rigorous new apologetic for civilization itself.

One of the best audiobooks I've ever purchased
Absolutely unapologetically on point. This is a searing critique. Douglas says what most are too afraid to say, and dismantles the game being played by those who want to tear western culture apart. Others have commented on the subject, but this is the most direct and merciless rebuttal I've yet heard.
The narration can come across as angry at times, but considering that it's a rebuttal to those who wish to destroy the culture of the entire free world, one might consider a somewhat angry tone justified. Where others tip toe around to not offend, Douglas makes it clear that enough is enough. and lays the cards on the table. If the tone of voice is upsetting (or potentially so to someone you wish to share the book with), one can always go with the written version.

Murray does an incredible job of laying bare the lack of rigor and intellectual honesty that permeates the poisonous ideologies currently threatening to undo the inheritance left to us by countless generations in the Western tradition.
The book is filled with illuminating examples and beautiful insights that are deeply angering, baffling, bemusing, frustrating, and, at times, touching.

For the layman
First of all, I’d like to thank Douglas for writing this book. I can imagine that it was difficult to write given how morose the subject matter is. The audio version would be the best way to experience this book- Douglas is a great narrator. I think this will be a great buy come Christmas time. A lot of people I know simply deny that there is a problem in the west. This book provides the most up to date examples of this problem in action. If you notice, I have the book a 3 star rating. Well, it’s because I think Douglas is capable of a whole lot more. The scope of this conflict is not limited to the race issue. I wonder why he limited himself. Overall, a great read and nice gift.

Every Human (seriously, everyone) Read This!
This book has convinced me that I'm actually NOT insane for thinking such things as:
1. White people are not the devil.
2. It's probably NOT ok to say racist things about white people, that you wouldn't say about other races.
3. The history of EVERY nation has its own mistakes and its triumphs, and America is not uniquely and wholly evil.
4. It's probably not a good idea to tear down every statue erected since 1700.
5. etc. etc. etc.
Every high school kid with an IQ over 65 should read this book, as well as all adults. We've been force fed a narrative by certain academic and media-types that has poisoned us into believing certain "truths" that are anything but. We have to grow up, swallow the bitter pill of reality, and understand that all because some agenda-pushing nitwit with the NYT says something is true, doesn't always mean that it is.

Good but too top heavy
Murray is excellent at outlining *what* the problems currently facing Western societies are. If you’re unaware of how bad the attacks on all of Western society have become then this book does a nice job of summarizing them. But if you want to know *why* these attacks are being levied, or better yet, **WHO** is loading the cannons, this book offers little in the way of new insights.
Murray is very careful not to implicate any real forces of power or influence- he simply hands out verbal beat downs to their minions. Which is all well and good (they certainly deserve them and no one does this better than Murray) but there’s a greater war being waged here and it’s not just our history & values that are at stake. Who benefits longterm from the destruction of the Western society? What end are they ultimately hoping to achieve by stoking racial conflict and national demoralization? Neither of those questions has been seriously asked or answered by anyone as mainstream as Douglas Murray, which is truly unfortunate.
I doubt this book will do anything to stir meaningful debate about eradicating the poisonous fruits Western society is gorging itself on because all we ever do is chop off the foliage. It’s long past time for talented thinkers & writers like Mr. Murray to take on the roots.

Brilliant mind & research.
42 years had served Douglas so well. I weep at the effort and generosity others go to for the encouragement and contribution to making a difference. I could not stop listening to the book. It has touch in such a profound nerve that has been begging to understand. Understand why our children are so discouraged, why education is lacking, why institutions are sliding into sticky clicks of resentment. Indictments they hold no substance. I’m from immigration, grew up poor. I’m not an immigrant, I am a citizen, I am not poor. I have raised 4 women, one which I bore, one adopted, 2 nieces of mixed race. We raised then to be their best, circumstances do not dictate outcome. You dictate your out come. It worked, not perfect but perfectly lived. Each are contributing women, each chose children, each have managed to raise those children to a higher and better place than they originated from. Can you ask for more, i have visited every continent, returning from Kenya two weeks ago where I have taken grandchildren at age 10 to developing countries. That they may know for themselves, I see the belt/road infrastructure China has build in East Africa. I have seen Zambia, I know of what you write. I waited on the Zambian River watching 250 trucks sit waiting 3 wks for their turn to be pulled next, unable to cross a River because of extortion. Your work is not fiction. China, India, Europe, South America, etc.. you write of fact not fiction. I pray we are not so foolish as to be lured into pathetic laziness to assume someone will rescue us from what is necessary. I have grandchildren I will not sacrifice, brilliant, gifted, attending & heading into colleges that teach principles of integrity. I know of what you write. Keep thing young Douglas, you are the age of my children, I have insisted on each reading this material to be discussed as a family. You must have a mother who is extremely supportive of such a son. If not I am…

Seminal work that eviscerates Woke Racism
Douglas Murray is cultural equivalent in the 2020s to what Churchill was in the 1930s. He delineates the threats, tactics, and psychosis that lies at the heart of modern Left's efforts to undermine the epistemological and ethical foundation of civilization itself. He's a herald, a harbinger, and a hero.

This book does a great job of making sense of an endless number of social issues that seem to be completely contradictory and yet preached as social justice gospel. The evidence he provides for his estimation of what's really going on is thoughtful and hard to dismiss. I enjoyed every minute of it.

Excellent, timely, and terrifying
Again, Murray has written a brilliant and terrifying account of our current circumstance. To readers who follow Murray's work, I doubt there will be too many surprises found within these pages. That is what most terrifies me. I wish there was some way to get this title circulating and widely read among the the large portion of our Western populations that seem obvious to what is going on within plain site of us all. Buy the book. Give it as a gift, donate it to your public libraries, and cite and promote The War on the West, while there is still something recognizable of our nations and our history.

Never disappoints
Big fan of Murray. He always offers a perspective of hadn’t considered before and provides an education on topics about which I consider myself fairly well-versed. I look forward to the next one!

Excellent, a must read
One of the few books in which the author has the courage to disguise all the craziness about BLM, anti-racism and woke culture. He analyses these phenomenas bringing bare facts, so that the reader creates his/her opinion freely. A really must read.

An indispensable book!
A brilliant book for anyone who wishes to understand why the West is currently under threat. CRT, postmodernism and neomarxism are all trying to topple the cultural and historical heritage of the West, denying it its very identity. Douglas Murray reads his own book to perfection. I highly recommend it.
