Publisher's Summary

Named one of the most anticipated books of 2022 by EW, Oprah Daily, Marie Claire, Goodreads and Bookpage!

The USA Today bestselling author of The Worst Best Man is back with a hilarious rom-com about two strangers who get trapped in a lie and have to fake date their way out of it...

Just weeks away from ditching DC for greener pastures, Solange Pereira is roped into helping her wedding planner cousin on a random couple’s big day. It’s an easy gig... until Solange stumbles upon a situation that convinces her the pair isn’t meant to be. What’s a true-blue romantic to do? Crash the wedding, of course. And ensure the unsuspecting groom doesn’t make the biggest mistake of his life.

Dean Chapman had his future all mapped out. He was about to check off “start a family” and on track to “make partner” when his modern day marriage of convenience went up in smoke. Then he learns he might not land an assignment that could be his ticket to a promotion unless he has a significant other and, in a moment of panic, Dean claims to be in love with the woman who crashed his wedding. Oops.

Now Dean has a whole new item on his to-do list: beg Solange to be his pretend girlfriend. Solange feels a tiny bit bad about ruining Dean’s wedding, so she agrees to play along. Yet as they fake-date their way around town, what started as a performance for Dean’s colleagues turns into a connection that neither he nor Solange can deny. Their entire romance is a sham... there’s no way these polar opposites could fall in love for real, right?

Brilliant

I loved listening to this sappy book. I use to live vicariously until I got my moment that I’m living right now. You won’t be disappointed with this read/listen

Meh.

Predictable. Story was ok. Performance wasn’t great, the male performer took away from the story.

A fun, fake-dating rom-com!

3.5 ⭐️/5
Fake dating. Forced proximity. Fun banter. Realistic-ish. Dual POV. A little spicy. 🌶

After stopping Dean's wedding, Solange ends up pretending to be Dean's girlfriend. Why? To convince Dean's boss that he is a good candidate to be a partner at his law firm, of course. They have to navigate meeting each other's colleagues, friends, and family while pretending they've known each other for years instead of weeks.

The book goes back and forth between Dean and Solange's point of view which perfectly builds up the attraction and tension between those two. They both go through the internal conflict of not wanting to get too attached, but as the attraction between them grows, so do their feelings.

The tension between these two was as realistic as a fiction book could be. It never felt cringe or weird, it always felt light and easy to keep reading. Some moments made me laugh out loud and Solange's family was so relatable and entertaining.

If you like when the guy pays attention to the little details.. this is for you.
If you like some spice that doesn't give you the ick, this is for you.
If you like a fun, quick rom-com novel, this is for you.

Great sappy romance read

this was a great fluffy read. a bit predictable , and had me rolling my eyes at some points, but not unbearably cliche. family dynamics are awesome. I just felt solingen sounded/acted a bit childish some times and Dean was rapping the chapter titles, but overall great performance 👏🏽

Too sappy

Not my kind of story. For some reason this genre is dominating my feed. The poor review is an effort to be released. It wasn’t terrible, just immature for my liking.

Throughly Enjoyed This Book

Loved the characters and the family dynamics. The growth and development these characters did throughout the story made it more believable. The way they wanted to work on the relationship and being vulnerable to each other demonstrated maturity. I laughed, cried and it made me think. The family, food and antics entertained. Well done.
