Story
Academy graduate Natalya Regyri stood first in line for her pick of engineering officer jobs, until, at the graduation party, a classmate turned up dead. Now, betrayed by her friends and framed for murder, she must flee beyond the reach of the Confederation...and any semblance of civilized society. With a damaged second-hand ship and TIC interceptors dogging her step, she nets a smuggling contract that might just get her back on her feet and in control of her destiny. But only if she's willing to make an ore run back to the place she's wanted for murder.

Publisher's Summary
Winner of 2021 Voice Arts Award, Audiobook Narration — Fantasy
"He thinks he's a wizard," they said.
For five grand a month and a million-dollar chaser, Roger Mulligan didn't care how crazy the old geezer was. All he had to do was keep Joseph Perry Shackleford alive and keep him from squandering the estate for a year.
But they didn't tell him about the pixies.

I liked this book. Where is book two?
I enjoyed this book. So much so that I've sought out, and enjoyed other books by the author. Since this is "Book One" there should be a book two. I would like to read more about this world. Thank you

Not going to lie; I had this title some months before I got over the first 10 minutes. The opening made me uneasy (the antagonists? The topic of dementia that is still too close?), But I am so glad I gave it another go. A fish in a different pond story, but the pond is where it is meant to be. So I hope there will be a sequel. The book is full of quiet humour, kindness, deviousness, curious situations, greed and of friendships. Of how some find contentment in service to others. Gosh, it's so much more quietly magical than my review.

Another great book by Nathan Lowell
I enjoyed this story as well as the person reading it.
I do not need constant action with multipule story lines going at the same time.
But I do like a well told story that I find has an interesting plot or twist which this has.

A great introduction to a beautiful world
This is the first book in what I hope to be a long series. The characters, despite having great talent, are relatable and enjoyable. A fantastic world is built in a very simple way and Mulligan is our eyes, ears and guide. I can't wait to see where this story goes from here.

Boring as F#$K!
Narrator Tom Taylorson gave a smashing performance of a very boring, very predictable plot. This was not at all what I expected. Where are the pixies? The writer alluded to them, but we did not experience any. Nothing hot, nothing smoldering, I truly thought I will hear some M/M Fantasy here. I mean come on, a wizard and his butler? No, it's a dry attempt to sell young adult content to adults.
Not a recommendation to our followers
Happy Listening

Relaxing fun read
A nice easy story, very well read and a great story to just listen to and fall asleep. But, good enough too to rewind next morning and to retrace the parts missed during sleep. Absolutely the best kind of book for me! Looking forward to more in the series
