I loved the portrayal of Necrons in this book! It was excellent! The only problem was that they would introduce an antagonist, to then kill them off in less than a chapter… I love the space marine part, but there’s no real scary antagonist. Overall if you like Necrons, you will absolutely love this book!!!!!

Hard to follow in the steps of ‘The twice dead king’ and ‘The infinite and the divine’. Tomb World has some glimmers of excitement in the back third, but failed to grab my interest with the necron characters and their personalities.

An interesting topic in 40k, Necron protagonists aren't very common so it's nice to see a story from their perspective. it's no Infinite and divine but it is a good listen if the topic interests you.

The story started out quite good and progressed well through the first and second act. By the end of the second act the book seemed kind of rushed. The third act had a major change in motive that seemed out of place for one of the main characters. The end of book didn't sit right with me and left many questions unanswered, as if a handful of chapters were cut to enable a quick ending.

This would have been better as a serial of 4 or 5 short stories rather than a single novel.

Loved getting to see both the Imperial Perspective and reaction to a Necron uprising and the Necron perspective and Political machinations. this book stands tall amongst good company as some of the best Xenos writing in 40k.
