Publisher's Summary

President-elect Donald J. Trump lays out his professional and personal worldview in this classic work—a firsthand account of the rise of America's foremost deal-maker.

"I like thinking big. I always have. To me it's very simple: If you're going to be thinking anyway, you might as well think big." —Donald J. Trump

Here is Trump in action—how he runs his organization and how he runs his life—as he meets the people he needs to meet, chats with family and friends, clashes with enemies, and challenges conventional thinking. But even a maverick plays by rules, and Trump has formulated time-tested guidelines for success. He isolates the common elements in his greatest accomplishments; he shatters myths; he names names, spells out the zeros, and fully reveals the deal-maker's art. And throughout, Trump talks—really talks—about how he does it. Trump: The Art of the Deal is an unguarded look at the mind of a brilliant entrepreneur—the ultimate read for anyone interested in the man behind the spotlight.

Love the Man

I felt like I know the man more after reading this book. No wonder he is such a successful President, in spite of the evil forces fighting him every step of the way.

Surprisingly a very entertaining book

I wasn't sure what to expect. But turned out to be a great listen. Trump and Schwartz simply take you through the history of Trumps major real estate deals in a somewhat chronological order. Starting with his origins working with his dad building low-income housing in the bronx, all the way to Trump Tower. Politics aside (and they mostly are in this book) its a great story.

The narrator (Kaleo Griffith) did a great job making trumps words (which are written in the first person) come to life. As many know, Trump has a very unique way of talking and writing.. maybe its a new york thing? in any case the narration was good.

Gives Amazing foresight on TRUMP

Easy listen, fun, great stories on hard lessons and excellent reality checks on media and politics.

Does an amazing job of explaining the Trump Presidency, however you may view it.

Highly recommended for anyone trying to understand - what is TRUMP!

Not a trump supporter but...

I’m not a trump supporter but I did enjoy this book in relation to finances. It really goes over some of his biggest projects early on in his life. Not some much about how to be successful but you can learn a thing or too about putting together deals.

I was expecting well written instructions on how to make a deals instead the whole book is just a series of trump discussing his own accomplishments. One has to glean the lessons out oneself

No Wonder he is where he is...

Ok, love him or hate him, this book certainly gives you a perspective that is not on TV or a computer monitor. I am not necessarily a fan of politics but I can clearly understand how Donald Trump has become the President of The United States. This book is an easy follow, but pay attention, as there is a lot to take in. I have benefited in my business from reading this book. I will now listen to his Son's book "Triggered".

Understanding the President of the USA!

Donald Trump is a Honey Badger! This book explains how Trump hustles and creates opportunity where others only see complexity and futile battle. He sees value in abandoned property, distressed hotels, managing total value, managing details, hiring the best people, and waiting for the "right" price.

He built a staking rink that the NYC government could not. He got Casinos built in Atlantic City that others could not. He fought rent-control fraud. He transitioned from a background in residential construction into into major, iconic construction. The easy thing was probably to quit or never try, how many of us challenge Mayors, Celebrities, and the press on a routine basis.

After reading this book, you will see that Trump is tough as hell and can usually out-last the opposition. Also, there is much of the Cornelius Vanderbilt in Trump. In the book, he is 40, today he is 70, this dude has incredible energy, toughness, and drive - just like Vanderbilt.

Book was written in 1987, he already talks about hiring/promoting women, accepting a gay friend, being bi-partisan, doing business globally. and renting to black people. These were not universal principles back then and show he is much different than the media want to frame him today.

The narrator is awesome, after a while, you actually think it's Trump talking. It's really well done.

Surprisingly enjoyable!

I bought this book intending on getting to understand President Trump better. I wasn't particularly expecting it to be well written, or even less, "enjoyable".

What I got was a three. A better understanding of President Trump, a VERY well written book, and highly enjoyable to listen to!

I can't recommend purchasing this enough!

This Explains It

I listened to this book after Trump was elected POTUS. It's basically the blue print for his campaign.

The guy is crass, unapologetic, manipulative, and relentless in his quest to get a good deal.

Manipulate tax laws or leverage the media to put pressure on others like he did with the Woolman Ice Rink renovation.

Trump is Trump.

This book was written in the 80s. If you're looking for him to pivot... it's not going to happen.

This book gives you a good explanation of how he operates and I was slightly more optimistic about his presidency.

Love him or hate him, this book gives you insight into how Trump operates & thinks.

Narration is good, too with a pompous northeast accent.

Great Book!

Great story about patience and never settling for less than what you want. I like how he never jumped into a deal to fast he had several steps he would make before getting completely involved in anything.
