Story
Suddenly in the spotlight, 24-year-old Hannah Brown realized that she wasn’t sure what she wanted. After years of competing in beauty pageants, and then starring on The Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars, she had become incredibly visible. There she was, in her early twenties, with millions around the world examining and weighing in on her every decision. She found herself wondering what it would mean to live on her terms. What it would mean to stop seeking approval from others and decide - for the first time - what it was she wanted from her own life.

Story
You’ve read the headlines, but you don’t know Jamie Lynn Spears. The world first met Jamie Lynn as a child star, when it was her job to perform, both on set and for the press. She spent years escaping into different characters - on All That, Zoey 101, and even in the role as Britney’s kid sister. But as she grew up, faced a teen pregnancy, raised her daughter on her own, pursued a career, and learned to stand on her own two feet, the real Jamie Lynn started to take center stage - a raw, blemished, and imperfect woman, standing in her own power.

Ever since she was a child, every aspect of Julia Haart’s life—what she wore, what she ate, what she thought—was controlled by the dictates of ultra-Orthodox Judaism. At 19, after a lifetime spent caring for her seven younger siblings, she was married off to a man she barely knew. For the next 23 years, her marriage would rule her life. Eventually, when Haart’s younger daughter, Miriam, started to innocently question why she wasn’t allowed to sing in public, run in shorts, or ride a bike without being covered from neck to knee, Haart reached a breaking point.

What does “Give them Lala” mean? It means giving the truest, most honest version of yourself to the world. It means being authentic, bold, adventurous, and having an unapologetic approach to life. Hollywood is where Lauren Burningham, aspiring actress from Utah, fully embraced her alter-ego Lala Kent, entrepreneur, entertainer, and film and television star. Some say she’s rude; Lala says she claps back. Some say she’s too bold; Lala knows she’s reality TV gold. Truth is, without giving them Lala, Lauren could never have become the woman she is today.

What a heartfelt journey and a fantastic listen!
I listened to this book straight through! What a fantastic story. Heartfelt, funny, sad, witty! So many emotions in one story. And the narration? Chrishell telling us about her own journey makes this audio book even better. Her narration is masterful and you can really tell she’s an Emmy nominated daytime actress because her emotions definitely come through as she weaves this story. I highly recommend this book!

memoir or self help?
I really like Chrishelle on Netflix and was excited to see she had a book. I assumed it was a memior but it was that and kind of a self help book which I found strange. Plus she included "Construction Tips" which were so cheesy. I would have enjoyed learning more about her and her interpersonal relationships than her trying to teach me how to be a better person. I know that sounds harsh but the book got annoying to me. I would tell a friend to skip this one.

Unfortunately this book is still under construction!
I love Chrishell but she needs to fire her writer/editor. The flow didn’t make any sense. It jumped around and was repetitive. It was really badly written. Chrishell narrates well and there are some nice little stories in there but her “advice” was so cheesy and felt like it was aimed at teenagers instead of grown women. I still like her but it’ll be a hard pass on any future books she publishes.
