Publisher's Summary

Resonance. It's a given on the ice planet, forced upon you by the parasitic symbiont called the "khui". With resonance, a guy and a girl are paired up because they'll make great babies. It's a survival mechanism necessary for this sparsely populated world we're stranded on...and romantic, in a weird, alien way.

Everyone expects resonance to happen when 20 newcomers are dropped onto the frosty world. I doubt anyone expects the gorgeous golden god named Ashtar to resonate to someone like me, though. He's fierce. Flirty. Powerful. Disgustingly handsome. I'm...not any of those things. I'm bland. Boring. Clumsy.

But resonance seems to think we'd be great together. And Ashtar does, too....

Contains mature themes.

It's a secret cross over

I love this book it was super fun I enjoyed how well they played are low self-esteem in this one versus the 'cootie' mating and the draconis sent bass mate weight of paint you get to find out that the Golden god is a draconian warrior. So for anyone who's read it in the fire in his blood series there's delightful nod totally different world but still really cool
I would definitely recommend this

Where’s that campy alien romance magic?

Offshoot Icehome series is a paler series than it’s parent Series: Ice Planet Barbarians. This is Veronica and Ashtar’s story. I’m not sure if it’s the different narrators or the writing, but I have found both books 1 & 2 to be slower and duller.

When you’re talking about alien human romance novels, you’re not looking for Great Expectations. One of the things I loved about the IPB series was the lively speed at which chemistry exploded and nooky happened. Here, the nooky takes forever to get going. What a let down for a book 2 promising a gold, god of an alpha male gladiator dragon. (I see there is a whole other series based on these dragon aliens, but based on this book, I’m going to have to pass on that series).

Ashtar is arrogant and supposedly a lifelong gladiator slave whose never really associated with females, but his character seemed awfully compassionate and solicitous... but that is the author’s trademark male character. Veronica has no self confidence and her constant inner monologue about how plain and ordinary she is gets tiresome. The female narrator’s nasal females and raspy males turned me off. As much as I like dual narration, I think I’d prefer just the male narrator ( even though his version of Sakui voices is painfully measured and tone less) ... or bring back the male/female narrator from the original series.

The rest of this new series can’t be borrowed in the Audible Escapes package. If they are offered at the occasional 50% sale, I may get them. Otherwise, I’ll spend my credit on meatier, 20+ hour books.

I enjoyed the book

I enjoyed the book. It was truly funny at parts. I wouldn't say that it was very sexy but it did have me blushing. I don't regret listening. its a good way to pass a car ride to and from work.

Shifter Gladiator Saved and Meets Mate

This book is a fun variation on the previous Ice Planet books. There are still some of the characters from the first series, but we are meeting new characters...once again there is resonance and and the adjustment of human women to different aliens This time he has horns and gold body and has previous shifter ed to a dragon until his wings were damaged for him to fight in gladiator rings..he is intent on a female, who happened to be Veronica.
Veronica feels less attractive and
i,e other human woman kidnapped from earth and saved by the big blur aliens as was he dragon mate.
Their adjustment, their fears and desires are so fun and hot to listen to with great and new narrators...nice to have a change although I loved the others.
Running through these books as pure and fun entertainment! Plus also a lot of heat and sweetness.
Can’t wait for more

Hot love story!

I really liked this story. The characters were great. I would totally keep Ashtar!

Veronica is one of twenty newcomers that were found in a ship on the ice world. All of the newcomers were told about the khui and what it does, including resonance. Resonance is when the khui picks the best mate to propagate the species. Everyone expects resonance to happen with all of the newcomers. The gorgeous, golden god named Ashtar is flirty, fierce and powerful. Veronica is sure there is no way that Ashtar will resonate with someone like her. She is nothing like Ashtar, she's boring, clumsy, average. But then Veronica resonates and Ashtar does too, now they have to figure out how to be together.

Ashtar was amazingly confident and was such a perfect match for Veronica. It was so awesome that Ashtar was interested in Veronica even before the khui. I loved the way he wanted to take care of her and protect her. Their happy ever after made me happy. I definitely recommend reading or listening to this book! I read it through Kindle Unlimited and listened through Audible Escape.

Not my favorite Ruby story

I eat up every story ruby puts out with our Ice Barbarians- this one however was so hard to get through. Okay I get it Ashtar has his hang ups very understandable but at some point it was getting incredibly annoying how he was making all the decisions and not giving veronica choices at all- it began to become way to repetitive and then veronica doesn't even really do much to stand up for herself if you mad or annoyed stay mad don;t just get swayed bc you wanna jump his bones lol. Yea not a fan of this one sorry ruby :(
