I enjoyed myself throughout this book. There seems to be a theme of made men being emotionally stunted leaving them making the dumbest choices then acting confused at the repercussions. 😑 I started with Niko’s duet and wanted to come back and see how Molly meets K and with how the pacing is, I wished this was just one book not a duet. The narrators did a great job and for a dual narration it didn’t take me out of the story and often I didn’t notice when it was the female vs male narrator. (Props as that’s hard to do!)

The plot and pacing is good and the storyline didn’t suffer for the sake of the spice which is about a 3/5. At first, the sexual tension and chemistry between the FMC and MMC feels a bit empty. Thier relationship builds in a backwards manner with resentful hate sex first and a deeper connection coming later. Even though I generally prefer coiling sexual tension prior to intimacy starting, the way things unfold works well with the storyline. Just as things start to get really good in their relationship the book ends on a cliff hanger without even a pretense of an ending. It’s basically one book that has been divided into two parts. So be warned. I have already listened to the second book and it’s worth it. The narration is good, with one small criticism about the male narrator. When he’s doing the low husky voice for the MMC he often ends the last word of a sentence with a huff of air. Talk = talkuh, club = clubuh, mad = maduh, etc… and I found it a bit distracting. I did get used to it though. What’s interesting is that when he voices the female character it doesn’t happen. The female narrator did a great job.
