INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER

The latest in the TikTok sensation and deliciously “swoonworthy” (Elena Armas, New York Times bestselling author) Maple Hills series follows two summer camp counselors who reconnect after a sizzling one-night stand.

Maple Hills students Russ Callaghan and Aurora Roberts cross paths at a party celebrating the end of the academic year, where a drinking game results in them having a passionate one-night stand. Never one to overstay her welcome (or expect much from a man), Aurora slips away before Russ even has the chance to ask for her full name.

Imagine their surprise when they bump into each other on the first day of the summer camp where they are both counselors, hoping to escape their complicated home lives by spending the summer working. Russ hopes if he gets far enough away from Maple Hills, he can avoid dealing with the repercussions of his father’s gambling addiction, while Aurora is tired of craving attention from everyone around her, and wants to go back to the last place she truly felt at home.

Russ knows breaking the camp’s strict “no staff fraternizing” rule will have him heading back to Maple Hills before the summer is over, but unfortunately for him, Aurora has never been very good at caring about the rules. Will the two learn to peacefully coexist? Or did their one night together start a fire they can’t put out?

Enjoyed this!

Very cute story and some spicy parts in this sequel. Each character need to overcome their own struggles and yet together learn from each other and support one another.

A fun read

This was a nice “listen” when I wasn’t entirely sure what to read and never heard of this author. I probably won’t read the other books, just because I wasn’t crazy about it but was still a decent read.
If you are looking for a comparable Colleen Hoover, this is not it. BUT you will laugh, get the feels and basically listen to Porn for a bit haha.
Not recommended for teenagers!

If you are curious if you should read this: I say yes!

Where's the plot? 10 hours for this, seriously?

How can I sum this up… Eh.

It was a feel-good book with some sweet parts, decent smut, and fun side characters, but way too many things annoyed me, starting with the two main characters. I struggled to finish it.

❤️ Easy, light read / audiobook
❤️ Chosen family vibes
❤️ Cameos from Icebreaker characters
❌ Male voice actor (2 words: Zade Meadows)
❌ Annoying MCs
❌ No sports despite this book being labelled a sports romance
❌ More vibes character development *everything* than plot

Plot:
I mean, there was basically no plot, so there’s not much to say. Pretty much everything had more focus than the plot: vibes, smut, characters (so many useless side characters!), character development (or rather lack of). Don’t get me wrong: I love when mental health / trauma issues are explored in fiction, and even when it takes centre stage, but in this one it felt like the same conflicts kept coming back, rehashed over and over, without much character development. This could have been 200 pages shorter, I swear.

Oh, and in what world would the daughter of a racing car company be followed by paparazzi? I mean, seriously?

Characters:
I really wanted to like Russ and Aurora. With their insecurities, they could have been very relatable characters, but it came to a point where their daddy issues made up their whole personalities. Russ would shut people out, Aurora would act out or try to find validation. Multiply that about ten times and you get a 400-page book that’s supposed to be a sports romance. Urgh, exhausting. I also felt like Aurora was not respectful toward Russ, always pressuring him to open up to her.

After swoony husband-material Nate Hawkins, this was a major let-down. I’m really hoping the author won’t screw up Henry’s character in the next one, because he is my absolute favourite so far.

Writing:
Redundant and stereotyped. Some bits were witty and made me chuckle (like the “you know that there isn’t a ball in hockey” and the stolen cat called Cat parts), but most of it felt flat and overused/rehashed.

Audiobook:
Who thought using the Zade Meadows voice actor was a good idea?! Seriously?!?! I really can’t.
