Story
Reese Witherspoon’s grandmother Dorothea always said a combination of beauty and strength made Southern women “whiskey in a teacup”. We may be delicate and ornamental on the outside, she said, but inside, we’re strong and fiery. Reese’s Southern heritage informs her whole life, and she loves sharing the joys of Southern living with practically everyone she meets. She takes the South wherever she goes with bluegrass, big holiday parties, and plenty of Dorothea’s fried chicken.

You’ve read the headlines, but you don’t know Jamie Lynn Spears. The world first met Jamie Lynn as a child star, when it was her job to perform, both on set and for the press. She spent years escaping into different characters - on All That, Zoey 101, and even in the role as Britney’s kid sister. But as she grew up, faced a teen pregnancy, raised her daughter on her own, pursued a career, and learned to stand on her own two feet, the real Jamie Lynn started to take center stage - a raw, blemished, and imperfect woman, standing in her own power.

What is it really like to be a housewife? We all want to know, but only the women we love to watch and the people who make the show have the whole story. Well, listen in close, because they’re about to tell all. Nearly all the wives, producers, and network executives, as well as Andy Cohen himself, are on the record, unfiltered and unvarnished about what it really takes to have a tagline. This is your VIP pass to the lives behind the glam squads, testimonials, and tabloid feuds. Life’s not all diamonds and rosé, but the truth is so much better, isn’t it?

Raw & Truthful Autobiography

Written by: Sally Field
Publisher's Summary
Award-winning actress Drew Barrymore shares funny, insightful, and profound stories from her past and present told from the place of happiness she's achieved today.
Wildflower is a portrait of Drew's life in stories as she looks back on the adventures, challenges, and incredible experiences of her earlier years. It includes tales of living on her own at 14 (and how laundry may have saved her life), getting stuck in a gas station overhang on a cross-country road trip, saying good-bye to her father in a way only he could have understood, and many more adventures and lessons that have led her to the successful, happy, and healthy place she is today. It is the first book Drew has written about her life since the age of 14.
What the critics say
"Pure delight... If until now you merely liked Barrymore...you’ll adore her once you read this series of personal essays.” (New York Times Book Review)
"[Barrymore] brings honesty, sweetness, and humor to the tale of how she fought to earn the hard-won wisdom that steered her from being a 12-year-old former child star to becoming a beloved actor…a warm and inviting narrative.” (Publishers Weekly)
"Heartwarming. Fans of the actress, her production company, makeup line, or girl-next-door demeanor, or anyone looking for a companion in book form, will enjoy." (Library Journal)

An easy listen
Drew states herself at the beginning of the book that she is not a writer and that this book jumps around a lot. This is true and sometimes can get a bit confusing but not a big deal since there isn't a detailed storyline to follow. I have always liked Drew Barrymore so it was interesting to hear these stories from her perspective. One thing I didn't like about this book is sometimes when she is re-telling a story she YELLS into the microphone! I had to turn the volume way down a bunch of times.

Interesting
I struggled to finish this book. The story was nice; however, I got stuck after the author explained a woman who sounded awful by saying she was overweight and wore "drug store makeup", implying that people like this woman, who was likely working where they were just to make ends meet, are "less than", "gross" or are "trashy". IMO, that's just a person passing judgement on another person based on their appearance, the job they had and the area they were in. After that, I just heard a judgemental author who came across as snobby towards the billions of people who are not movie stars and who are not wealthy.... the people who can only afford "drugstore" makeup (if that). #Audible1

Should have been titled “All of the Sudden”
I actually liked her better before I heard this and I REALLY wanted to like this. I believe she’s genuine but can come across as over-acted in her narration.

Amazing and inspirational story!
I’ve always liked Drew Barrymore but I gained a whole new respect for her after listening to this book. She overcame so much as a child actor basically left to her own devices by parents who could barely take care of themselves. Yet she managed to flourish into an amazing adult who loves and cherishes her family and friends as well as traveling across the globe to help those who so many people ignore. I’m sure this book would be good narrated by someone else but Drew did such an amazing job that I laughed out loud more times than I could count and I also had tears streaming down my face a few times. She’s funny, she’s intelligent, she cares about others, and she sounds like the kind of person that you would want as a best friend!! Fantastic story and great audiobook! I highly recommend!!

I could live without all the screaming
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would not, Drew is very fond of screaming and does it A L-O-T. It may well put you off finishing the book at all. Also the books jumps time periods making its a little scatterbrained and hard to follow.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Drew
How did the narrator detract from the book?
Constant, infuriating screams. I wish I had read this instead of suffering through the screaming.
What else would you have wanted to know about Drew Barrymore’s life?
No really
Any additional comments?
Someone needs to edit this and REMOVE the screaming. It is NOT funny, it is NOT charming and it adds NOTHING to the book.
