Irene Steele's idyllic life - house, husband, family - is shattered when she is woken up by a late-night phone call. Her beloved husband has been found dead, but before Irene can process this tragic news, she must confront the perplexing details of her husband's death. He was found on St. John, a tropical island paradise far removed from their suburban life. Leaving the cold winter behind, Irene flies down to the beautiful Caribbean beaches of St. John only to make another shocking discovery: her husband had a secret second family.

As Irene investigates the mysterious circumstances of her husband's death, she is plunged into a web of intrigue and deceit belied by the pristine white sand beaches of St. John.

Not Worth It

First book we have started to listen to by this author. It is a real snoozer, slow to start and gets slower. Not at all worth time nor money.

Just the beginning

A very good book start to end. I like that it provided a lot of few points.

I’ve read a few reviews saying the ending left them with a lot of questions but this is just the first book of the trilogy with the 2nd book coming in late 2019. Looking forward to it!

Wonderful book with twists and turns!

This chic lit kind of book is my kind of book. There is a great story line that keeps the reader guessing! Great listen!

Great story right from the start but...

Ending left me with questions so because of that, gave it four instead of 5 stars.

What???!!!

This story just ENDED....without having anything resolved. It was so abruptly just OVER that I thought there was something wrong with my download. I'm SO angry I wasted all that time listening....and then just POOF.....over like mid-sentence.

?????

I loved the book until the very end. The suspense builds for the truth to his death and who he worked for. And the mysteriousness of the disappearance of the company. None of that is ever revealed. I was extremely disappointed.

It didnt seem finished..

I have read this author before and was excited to read this book. The narration was great and the book was good right up until it ended. It just left you hanging. No ending . The mystery was never resolved. She left lots of strands just dangling. Sometimes that is okay but not here. She didn't clear up the central question of the book. I looked at the time remaining on my book while I was listening and I was on chapter 31 of 31. I couldn't believe it. It felt like she had just introduced all of the characters. I truthfully thought I was about 1/2 to 3/4 done. It was like her publisher was ready and she just quit writing and turned it in.
It could've been a great book had she finished. The point of a mystery to me is to untangle the web.

Excellent

I usually listen to about 12 books each month. This book is the BEST book I have listened to in years! I can't wait for the next one.

Sequel?

Enjoyed the story but I wanted the ending to have answers, instead now waiting for the next book.

The book ends in mid-sentence.<br />

The story is ok, even interesting, but it ends in mid-air, very strange. A whole chapter, or part, is missing.

Tropical Escape

Enjoyed this story. The buildup was great. Characters were vivid due to the talented narrator. Truly felt the tropical feel of the book and was taken away. A follow up to this story line would be great!

One of Elin's best

This seems different from all of the Elin Hilderbrand's books I have read and loved. Great storyline and location.
