Her beloved husband has been found dead, but before Irene can process this tragic news, she must confront the perplexing details of her husband's death. He was found on St. John, a tropical island paradise far removed from their suburban life. Leaving the cold winter behind, Irene flies down to the beautiful Caribbean beaches of St. John only to make another shocking discovery: her husband had a secret second family.

Not Worth It

First book we have started to listen to by this author. It is a real snoozer, slow to start and gets slower. Not at all worth time nor money.

I gave this book a chance, but could not get into

The narrative of the book just seemed to unbelievable to me. I was waiting for it to get better, but it never did. It was to slow, and I could not connect to any of the characters.

Terrible narrator!

Oh my goodness. I can't stand the narrator! Total turn off. I could not get past the first minute! I should have listened to the sample. This is only Book 1 for this story. I can't get through one minute; there is no way I can listen to 2 books. I have read print copies of Elin Hilderbrand books, so will stick to this in the future. I am going to get my credit back.

Loved the book

This was a great book. I loved listening to it. The narrator is good. Took some time to get used to her but was overall good. Only thing that I didn’t like was when it was read “he said” or “she said” after someone would talk which wasn’t very necessary and got excessive at times but that more the writing I guess. Overall great fun book. Would recommend

Just the beginning

A very good book start to end. I like that it provided a lot of few points. I’ve read a few reviews saying the ending left them with a lot of questions but this is just the first book of the trilogy with the 2nd book coming in late 2019. Looking forward to it!

Wonderful book with twists and turns!

This chic lit kind of book is my kind of book. There is a great story line that keeps the reader guessing! Great listen!

Great story right from the start but...

Ending left me with questions so because of that, gave it four instead of 5 stars.

Worst book ever!!

Worst book ever. Cringe worthy. characters were ugly and just wanted to get laid as soon as they got to the island. WTF! Island girl has rules and doesn’t date “tourist” until she does date tourist; especially if they are good looking and have the morals of an onion. Mother is sad and upset but doesn’t let that stand in the way of her “getting some” as well. Could not finish this book, had to stop before I forgot what a good story sounded like.

Don't waste your credit.

Very disappointed. Character dialog was unimaginative and basic. Could have been so much more descriptive and interesting. I lost track of the times "He said" and "she said" was used and it was back to back within the same conversation. Very poorly written.

?????

I loved the book until the very end. The suspense builds for the truth to his death and who he worked for. And the mysteriousness of the disappearance of the company. None of that is ever revealed. I was extremely disappointed.

It didnt seem finished..

I have read this author before and was excited to read this book. The narration was great and the book was good right up until it ended. It just left you hanging. No ending . The mystery was never resolved. She left lots of strands just dangling. Sometimes that is okay but not here. She didn't clear up the central question of the book. I looked at the time remaining on my book while I was listening and I was on chapter 31 of 31. I couldn't believe it. It felt like she had just introduced all of the characters. I truthfully thought I was about 1/2 to 3/4 done. It was like her publisher was ready and she just quit writing and turned it in. It could've been a great book had she finished. The point of a mystery to me is to untangle the web.

So-so

This was basically a romance novel, a genre I usually avoid, but I wanted something light and fluffy. There is a mystery involved, which i kept waiting to be advanced, but all that went on was brothers vying over a pretty girl, while their widowed mom flirted with a fishing captain. Turns out the mystery is continued in the following book, which I doubt I will bother with. So, ok for very light summer reading, but not to spend real money or a whole credit on--this one was a Daily Deal

What???!!!

This story just ENDED....without having anything resolved. It was so abruptly just OVER that I thought there was something wrong with my download. I'm SO angry I wasted all that time listening....and then just POOF.....over like mid-sentence.

The book ends in mid-sentence.

The story is ok, even interesting, but it ends in mid-air, very strange. A whole chapter, or part, is missing.

Excellent

I usually listen to about 12 books each month. This book is the BEST book I have listened to in years! I can't wait for the next one.

Sequel?

Enjoyed the story but I wanted the ending to have answers, instead now waiting for the next book.
