Publisher's Summary

The Wheel of Time is a PBS Great American Read Selection!

Now in development for TV!

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers and listeners around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

Rand is on the run with Min, and in Cairhein, Cadsuane is trying to figure out where he is headed. Rand's destination is, in fact, one she has never considered. Mazrim Taim, leader of the Black Tower, is revealed to be a liar. But what is he up to? Faile, with the Aiel Maidens, Bain and Chiad, and her companions, Queen Alliandre and Morgase, is prisoner of Savanna's sept. Perrin is desperately searching for Faile. With Elyas Machera, Berelain, the Prophet and a very mixed "army" of disparate forces, he is moving through country rife with bandits and roving Seanchan.

The Forsaken are ever more present, and united, and the man called Slayer stalks Tel'aran'rhiod and the wolfdream. In Ebou Dar, the Seanchan princess known as Daughter of the Nine Moons arrives - and Mat, who had been recuperating in the Tarasin Palace, is introduced to her. Will the marriage that has been foretold come about?

TV series update: "Sony will produce along with Red Eagle Entertainment and Radar Pictures. Rafe Judkins is attached to write and executive produce. Judkins previously worked on shows such as ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the Netflix series Hemlock Grove, and the NBC series Chuck. Red Eagle partners Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon will executive produce along with Radar’s Ted Field and Mike Weber. Darren Lemke will also executive produce, with Jordan’s widow Harriet McDougal serving as consulting producer." (Variety)

Best book since B3 imo.

Maybe there wasn't a ton that moved the story forwards, but SOOOO many little changes and intrigues with each character. This really got me excited for the home stretch!

Last two hours was the good part

The performances were great as per usual. The story sucked. Basically nothing about Perrin and Faile. Mat is finally back and has his moments halfway through the book. This is a Super boring book with unnecessary parts. The whole part of Aviendha and Elayne and then Elayne and Rand while everyone else got drunk, was unnecessary. Then Rand and Lan going off to kill some people and then be arrested, to only be saved next Chapter was super pointless. Typical of Robert Jordan to not build a climax and then throw you into it in the last hour of the book. Climax was the best of the series so far, but it should have dragged out a bit more and not jump from person to person so much.

Fantastic Series, weaker title.

While there are many astounding scenes, the story itself is lesser than books prior. Still not a bad read by any stretch, however.

Still good but dragging

It feels like the content of the books are getting filled with fluff and filler content dragging the story out. It's still worth the listen but everything that actually happened of any importance could have happened in one chapter.

The Wheel of time saga

#Audible 1 This series is arguably the modern Lord of the Rings. Rich, detailed and filled with a unique take on old themes and words, the Wheel of time is a Must Read for those who call themselves fans of High Fantasy Genre books.

It is fixed!

Reading all the reviews, I almost didn't buy this just due to the audio quality issues everyone talked about. The issues have been fixed. No replays of some content and all the chapters are there. My only gripe is when Kramer has to read a sultry female character...sounds like a drag queen...kind of takes you out of the moment. Otherwise a really great book. Going to get book 10 now!

Fix The Friggin' Audio

I am highly non-plussed. Why the heck has this been a problem that has been NOTED for 5 years? That is unacceptable.

Editor: listen to this prior to publishing it!!

What disappointed you about Winter's Heart?

The editing was horrible. There are 253 "chapters" in this audio book. Some "chapter" breaks occur where they should while other occur mid conversation. The absolute worst part is that there are at least 15+ occurrences of repeated content (10-20 seconds each time) and it's not just within different "chapters". I hope the so called "editor" of the audiobook does his/her job better for the remaining books because this is beyond ridiculous!

Not worth it.

even as short as this book was, it dragged. The sheer amount of needless dialog has become almost unacceptable and I'm struggling to finish the series. The first 4 books were exciting and things happened. Now everyone just talks, get irritated with each other, sniffs, snorts, and braid pulling fill just about every conversation . 9 books in and Mat still doesn't accept his role. 9 books in, what exactly is Perrin doing? 9 books in, I'm starting to lose interest in Rand. IMO, you're better off just reading this and not wasting a credit buying the audiobook

Can the main characters be more obnoxious..

I have suffered through this many of this series. Mostly because I need long stories to get me through my travels. And just when I think this author can't produce another obnoxious female character, a couple books ago he introduced Cadsuanne. to teach manners no less, when she's the most ill-mannered idiot I've ever read about. I have no idea how this author thinks that letting these dim-witted women abused men would be appealing. If that old grandma slapped me. I would have broke her neck considering she had done nothing to earn the right. This author does a terrible job of character construction. I don't believe I have read another book where I could care less whether a character died or not. If Nynaeve or Cadsuanne werr to die Grizzly deaths I would be cheering. And all the Aes Sedai could burn, no great loss. I get this feeling that Moraine will make a miraculous reappearance at some point. This author tries hard to be the next Tolkien. The big difference is when Gandalf the Grey returned. He was a beloved character. Moraine was just another obnoxious feminist, although she did get a little better before her vanishing. Still for me there won't be a great sense of joy if she does reappear. Was this author so dense that he believed whiny, rude, self righteous characters are the essence of good characters? The story idea in itself is good had the man written better characters. If they do make this series into a television series, hopefully Hollywood finds a way to make these people more likeable.

Editing Bad. MISSING CONTENT. DO NOT BUY!!!

Would you try another book from Robert Jordan and/or Kate Reading and Michael Kramer ?

Yes. The narration is consistent with the other books in the series.

Any additional comments?

If you're working your way though the series, you're going to have to go buy the book here. It's a good book. But the audiobook is completely screwed up. There is missing content. Repeating content. About 2 chapters right before the end are missing. Instead you get other content repeating. I called customer service and reported it but from the reviews here it looks like this audiobook has been broken since 2011 and has not been fixed!

I'm getting tired

I'm very much tired of Jordan's lackluster portrayal of each gender. All women are contemptous all men and all men are confused by all women. I'm also sick of Rand's love interests going all starry eyed around him. I acknowledge they're teenagers but, in this universe, they should know better. I'm especially referring to Elayne. But I'm determined to finish the series at this point and the excellent readings in the audiobooks make it worth it.

Good voice acting, unbalanced story

Seafolk, seanchan, ashaman, shaido, and many more interesting plot points, yet no real progress in story. We spend too much time with Elayne and her very uninteresting succession war, and too little time with matt and his interesting time in ebou dar. Plus, I’m all about women power and equality, but it seems like the author was pretty whipped! His editor was his wife, and you can tell. It gets really annoying really quick. Overall, other than the last 50 minutes, nothing of significance happens to progress the plot of the previous 8 Books.

Technical Issue

I have read all the books on audio so far, I have had no issues whatsoever. It’s been very nice on long car rides. However, this book in particular I have an issue with. Where the very first chapter is supposed to begin, it starts you on chapter 13 in the book... there is nothing before that. I didn’t realize initially and now there is a ton of stuff happening that I have no prior knowledge of. I referenced my paper book copy and realized this audio book skipped 340 pages of book... highly annoyed. Now I need to go back and read what I missed to get caught up.
