About this listen

"She glared deep into his azure eyes, bestowing him with a silent promise. He may very well be responsible for her undoing. But she would be his end."

When Mora met Dother, she expected a one-night tryst, but the man she grew to love had a different idea. He intended to keep her at any cost. Even if that meant binding her to a flask and cursing her to grant the wishes of any who held it. Though Dother meant it when he swore Mora would never truly be rid of him, he didn't anticipate the monster she would become in the name of vengeance.

Revenge was not enough.

Three hundred years later, Mora is eternally cursed, rageful, and haunted by memories of Dother. She makes do by twisting her Keepers' wishes to have dire, often deadly outcomes until a wish gone awry lands Mora in the hands of a new, terrifying enemy. One who knows all of Dother's secrets and plans to use them against her.

Trapped alongside Zadriel, a brooding Fae male who despises her and yearns for her in equal measure, Mora must face a past she longs to forget. But something is hidden in the Forbidden Forest. Secrets her Keeper wishes to uncover. Secrets Zadriel would prefer to keep. As Mora is forced to fulfill a wish she knows will end in horror, she unravels the damning truth about Dother's curse. And Mora isn't the only one who's doomed.

Captivating, tense, and shockingly wicked, Wish is an adult dark fantasy full of magic, feminine rage, morally grey chaos, and a swoon-worthy enemy-to-lovers romance. Perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Harper L Woods, and Raven Kennedy.

I was pleasantly surprised by the voice acting. Unfortunately I could not get into the storyline and the main character is infuriating. I might be missing the reason why Mora was written as such a spoiled, useless, helpless characte. In my opinion definitely not a strong female character.

I'm over halfway through the story and its a struggle to listen to the main character whine through every challenge... Hopefully there is some significant character development. The self pity and rumination is insane for a 300 year old woman.

As mentioned by other reviews the content warnings are relevant.

Any readers with good pattern recognition might find the plot predictable.

Excellent Voice acting, sub-par story

This book came recommended on all my bookish platforms. The premise sounded interesting, and I was particularly drawn to a morally grey, strong main female character.

The story started strong with dark elements and mystery, embeded in a present-tense viewpoint and a flashback perspective. There are a lot of trigger warnings for this book, so readers should be sure to check those before diving in.

I was eager to put puzzle pieces together and see where the overall plot arc went. Unfortunately, at about 2/3 or 1/2 way through, there's a hodge-podge of new characters, new world concepts and a sad attempt at political intigue that dropped the momentum of the story to a snail's pace. The dark elements didn't really seem to contribute to plot arc, or character development, but were for.... I don't know, shock value? The author couldn't decide whether the main female character should be despised, or empathized with. There's some empathy for her experiences, but she's not a well-rounded character.

The idea of "mates" and "mate bonds" comes up somewhat randomly. At this point, there's a whole lot of insta-love and sappiness, smut and relationships that start to get annoying. I struggled hard with the last 5 hours, and finally called in quits with 2 hours left in the book. I have reader's whiplash from trying to understand what's relevant to the story, where the author was going, and what was just annoying filler.

Started off strong, but struggked with the last 1/3. DNF with 2hrs left
