Publisher's Summary

A moment on the subway platform changes two women’s lives forever - a debut thriller that will take your breath away.

A total stranger on the subway platform whispers, “Take my baby.”

She places her child in your arms. She says your name.

Then she jumps....

In a split second, Morgan Kincaid’s life changes forever. She’s on her way home from work when a mother begs her to take her baby, then places the infant in her arms. Before Morgan can stop her, the distraught mother jumps in front of an oncoming train.

Morgan has never seen this woman before, and she can’t understand what would cause a person to give away her child and take her own life. She also can’t understand how this woman knew her name.

The police take Morgan in for questioning. She soon learns that the woman who jumped was Nicole Markham, prominent CEO of the athletic brand Breathe. She also learns that no witness can corroborate her version of events, which means she’s just become a murder suspect.

To prove her innocence, Morgan frantically retraces the last days of Nicole’s life. Was Nicole a new mother struggling with paranoia or was she in danger? When strange things start happening to Morgan, she suddenly realizes she might be in danger, too.

Woman on the Edge is a pulse-pounding, propulsive thriller about the lengths to which a woman will go to protect her baby - even if that means sacrificing her own life.

Liked the story but...

I liked it! It keeps you interested throughout but I didn’t like the narrator. It kind of made me cringe at times.

good quick book

i enjoyed the book.i did predicted the ending, but it was still worth the listen. I agree with some of the other reviews about the squeaky voice of the performer during certain sections for the voices of certain characters, but I only really noticed it towards the end. based on the book, I would see the upcoming movie

Thriller

I enjoyed the plot of this novel but the narration was so whiny!!!!! The tone was grating about halfway through.

Would recommend!

Overall I really liked this story. I found myself guessing and constantly changing my mind on what was happening. I didn’t see the actual ending coming!

I found myself feeling for Nicole In her last story line especially as it caught up to that day in the subway. I found the characters a little less personable than I usually like, though I can’t really say why.

The narrator was overall fine but her more Whiney voices really were not my favourite to listen to.

Compelling mystery, Whiny Read

Good story, but the main characters victim complex was exaggerated and overly emphasized by the performing reader.

Couldn't stop listening

Ok, so I'm conflicted because on one hand, I couldn't stop listening. Throughout the whole book I was making internal predictions and then second guessing myself. I won't spoil anything but I will say my very first assumption that I repeatedly told myself could be the case because it was just too obvious, ended up, yes, being that obvious. However, maybe that was the point?! Because I still enjoyed the book. Lol.

Great story from beginning to end. This is a page turner. Listened to it in two day. So disappointed when it finished.

Can I at least get some cheese with all the Whine?

I think I would have liked this book if I had read it. To be fair, I liked the premise and felt the author did a good job weaving it all together. I found the big ‘twist’ predictable, but I read and listen to a LOT of psychological thrillers. However - I just could NOT get over how utterly whiney and annoying the narrator made Morgan! Even when she was yelling - it was whiney. When she was assertive - whiney. Terrified - whiney. Vulnerable- whiney. You get my point. Ruined the whole character for me.

Not great

I’m not sure how this book got so many good reviews. It was like a bad lifetime movie! It was just silly and the narrator was so annoying!

Great

I bought to have something to listen to on the way home. I was instantly caught up in the story and made the long drive home so much nicer. Hope author has another one soon.

weak and helpless

The narrator made the women in the story sound weak and helpless. I'm not sure it was necessary.
I did want to find out what had happened. Great job to the author for the way it starts!!

Chapters of angst.

Well, I should have known! Book is about PPD but really not. Highly recommended. Yada Yada! Not my cup of tea. White knuckled thru all the angst and made it. Was somewhat invested in Morgan, even though she was a wimp. Guessed the villain pretty quick. Great need for suspension of disbelief.

The book is divided between a before and after the "suicide". Well written. Narrator was very good. Coulda been a contenda. Hey, there is always room for one more clique! On the fence. Just ok not great. (Semi)-falsely advertised.

KEPT ME THINKING

Good book, crazy concept, it kept me thinking and working to sort out the plot. I did find a couple of the characters 'whiney'...it was more the performance related than story.

predictable & ridiculously dumb characters

I really disliked the story line but finished it because my book club picked it. the characters were constantly doing incredibly dumb stuff, usually after saying "I know I shouldn't do this!" full of cliches and awkwardly frequent name- dropping of brand names.
