The instant New York Times best seller

A practical guide to taking control of your mental health for today, tomorrow, and the days after, from the number one New York Times best-selling author and beloved entertainer.

"There’s a moment at the end of every day, where the world falls away and you are left alone with your thoughts. A reckoning, when the things you have been pushing to the background, come forward and demand your attention."

Written by Daniel Howell, in consultation with a qualified psychologist, in an entertaining and personal way from the perspective of someone who has been through it all — this no-nonsense book gives you the tools to understand your mind so you can be in control and really live. Created with exclusive audio features, it is split into three chapters for each stage of the journey:

  • This Night - how to get through your toughest moments and be prepared to face anything.
  • Tomorrow - small steps to change your thoughts and actions with a big impact on your life.
  • The Days After - help to look after yourself in the long term and not just survive, but thrive.

You will laugh and learn — but most of all, this book will assure you that even in your darkest times, there is always hope.

You will get through this night.

Enjoyable & informative

The book kept the Dan flare for anyone who is a fan from YouTube while also being actually helpful and scientifically-based. I think the structure of this book makes it accessible for a diverse audience and you would not have to be a fan of Dan on YouTube to enjoy or benefit from this book.

Good tips for all ages

This is the type of book I wish I had of listened to when I was younger. It's full of CBT and mindfulness strategies and exercises that are professionally approved, but delivered in a way that only Dan Howell can. I know this book will help a lot of young people, but I think it will also help a lot of people age 30+ too. Even for those who have already been to therapy or are being treated for mental health conditions, You Will Get Through This Night is chalk full of great reminders.

A Practical Guide To Mental Health

This book is everything it promises. A collection of scientific advice mixed in with funny comments and anecdotes from the author that allow you to laugh while you learn. The book has been divided in chapters that you can visit in a non-chronological to get help in whatever you may be going through at that moment. I love the strong message that everyone has mental health, and that there are steps you can follow to make yourself feel better. I definitely recommend this book to everyone. Even if you feel like you are doing okay and that this does not apply to you because you do not have a diagnosed mental illness, navigating through life and feeling content can be easier. Give your brain a treat; it will thank you :]

Takes my breath away.

A well executed masterpiece of humor and sincerity that dives into the complexities of mental health and how it affects us all. Articulating not only the trials that we endure but provides solutions and support to the hurdles our brains go through. A beautiful guide on how we all will get through this night.

Educational, funny and empowering all at once

Between the easy categorization for referencing and the humor the author puts into his narration this audiobook is the easiest listen for bettering your mental health I've ever found. Absorbing the information is effortless, everything is scientifically backed and it applies to anyone from the severely mentally ill to those thriving. Truly recommend this to everyone because everyone can benefit from it - if you don't need help correcting things you will inevitably need help maintaining them through life's ups and downs. Thanks to the author for making me feel a little better :)

Good

I'm usually skeptical about self help books, but this one is sincere from the very beginning: it doesn't want to substitute meds or therapy, to teach you some quick magic trick that will change your life, it wants to make you feel less alone in what you might think is an inevitable and unchangeable state of mind, and in that it really makes a great job.
It's a safe net for desperate times, a grounding tool for utterly anxiety moments and a little hope for the future all with occasional laughs.

✨Incredible book✨

This was a very well written book and narrated book. The Author makes many helpful and great points about mental health and shares honest ways to help with different thoughts and feelings. I’ve been able to take things away from this book and apply it in my life. I’ve noticed improvements. I highly recommend this book by Dan Howell.

Zazzy

I love Dan Howell, I’ve followed his YouTube career ever since Tyler Oakley did his first collab with him (The one before keyword “whisk”). Dan is so much more intelligent then he leads on in his internet career, and I do fully believe that ever since his coming out video he has blossomed into his own black beautiful butterfly. (Im imaging his wings would be the iconic ikea plaid blanket)
This book was so inspiring and Im so going to recommend it to some of my coworkers who know what YouTubers are, and my mother.
I have no other words other than Zazzy. Zazzy Daniel Howell. Zazzy.

I got through the night.

I genuinely adore this book. I'm a long time fan of Daniel and I was so excited when he wrote a book. When I downloaded it and realized it's a mental health book, it was like it was sent from the universe. I needed this now. I'll need this in the future. If you're struggling with your mind, and like soft Brittish accents, this is the book for you.

Surprisingly good.

I didn’t need this book. I wasn’t even looking for it. I listened to the preview and was intrigued, so I took a chance on it. Overall, I wasn’t let down and would recommend it to those interested in the topic.

Pros:
-Great performance by the author/narrator.
-Good mix of science, logic, and colorful opinion.
-Good cadence, didn’t sit on any one topic for too long.
-Good humor to break up heavy topics but not to the point of being hokey or grotesque.

Cons:
-I almost bailed on this book during the first half hour because it was a big “woe is me” coming out party which would certainly be a theme through the book, which it very much was.
-The last half hour was a complete waste of time. The bonus content is just terrible.
