  • IL 24 marzo 1959 Robert e John Kennedy furono membri di una commissione che indagava sui rapporti tra i sindacati e la criminalità organizzata. I due interrogarono Marcello. Robert Kennedy fu consigliere capo del comitato, suo fratello John, all’epoca senatore, fu un membro. Il padrino si rifiutò di rispondere più volte alle domande e invocò il quinto emendamento relativamente ai suoi rapporti con la criminalità e sul suo passato. Da quel momento in poi, Marcello divenne un nemico dichiarato dei Kennedy.
