Episode 36 --They Were Dancing Machines

  • Summary

  • We celebrate the first family of music -- The Jacksons.  They burst onto the national and international stage in 1969.  But before then they were just Juquan and the Torianos (Yes, that's right).

In this episode, we share some deep background about the group's origin, their first performances and their relationship with community.  We also bust some myths about them.

If you would like to know more about the Jackson's early days then read the book THE LONG JOURNEY TO GLORY --My side of the Jacksons' Story by Reynaud D. Jones. In this book the record is set straight.  As the first "leader" of the group, Jones takes us from beginning to an unfortunate turn in their relationship after they became mega stars and Michael became the King of Pop.
