Miranda and her family live in the remote High Desert of California in the 1930s. Because of the massive climate disturbance of the Dust Bowl, desperate farmers from Oklahoma show up on Miranda's family's ridge. But there isn't enough food or water to sustain both families, and a battle for survival begins.
