  • Summary

  • This podcast is for every woman nearing or past 50 who isn’t prepared to fade away! Sure, you might be hitting the menopause, but you still have loads you want to accomplish! You still have unfulfilled ambitions, goals and dreams that have been put on hold for too long… (maybe whilst you were focusing on bringing up your family or building a career.) BUT…now is your time to shine and shake things up and my aim with this podcast is to help you do that. Hi, I’m Sarah, a middle-aged woman about to hit the menopause, but I’m not going to let my age or convention stop me from doing all the things that fire me up! I want to keep inspired and motivated on my own journey, so I thought I’d start this podcast to do that for me, and hopefully for you too. This is NOT a show about the menopause. In this show, you’re going to get food for thought, stories, inspirational ‘hot flush rebel’ guest interviews with women who are doing great things later in life, and things I’m discovering on my own journey. If you have a story or guest that you want to share, then find me on Instagram @hotflushrebels and send me a DM… (oh and if you like the show please leave a review to help others find it).

  • When Life Begins at 70 with Lynn Ruth Miller - 006
    Oct 26 2020

Lynn Ruth Miller will tell you that the first 70 years of her life did not go to plan. Regrets and disappointments litter decades of struggle to find her place in a society determined for her to fit into what a woman ‘should’ be, rather than what she ‘could’ be.

Treated abominably by many people and institutions this little bird of a woman has survived a multitude of things that would have finished off even the most resilient of us...and yet when the majority of people are looking to wind down and sit on the porch this fire cracker discovered what she was always meant to do.

Lynn found comedy & cabaret at 70 and began showing the world that there is no such thing as being too old to try something new. Today, at 87 she is the oldest female comedian on both sides of the Atlantic and she is still going strong.

In this show, Lynn shares all the ups and downs of her comedy career and how it has changed her life. She also talks about the struggles of her early life, how those impacted her journey and how she learnt that to live a good life you have to create it yourself!

    Enjoy!

  • Living a Beautiful Life Among the Peaks and Valleys with Rebecca MacIntosh - 004
    Sep 28 2020

As we move towards middle and third age, evidence suggests that we should be developing our functional strength. This is where we exercise several muscles and joints together, rather than working individual ones. This is to counteract the normal muscle loss we experience as we get older, so that we’re able to continue our daily activities as normally as possible.

They also say that our minds and bodies are best keep in shape and improved through developing new skills.

On this show, I’m joined by mum of four and medical scheduler, Rebecca McIntosh. She is here to share how she was in her 50s when she started a new hobby that not only builds functional strength, but also integrates mind, body and balance.

Rebecca shares her story and how her new passion has brought many unexpected benefits to her life besides improving her physical and mental wellbeing.

    Enjoy!
