About this listen

Unlike canned nature sounds created in a studio, renowned acoustic ecologist Gordon Hempton gives you the real deal. He travels the world recording remarkable locations that capture the essence of the place itself. His lifelong mission is to preserve nature through sound, and his soundscapes are produced with such care and quality that you feel as if he has truly brought a slice of the world into your home.

I love these tracks, they are an interesting recording of actual places. I find them very helpful for sleep.

Great sounds for sleeping

Very helpful when I can’t get my mind to shut down. I concentrate on this instead.

All of it

I have difficulty quieting my mind at bedtime, and this does the trick. I use it almost nightly and would highly recommend you give it a try.

I've listened over & over!

Perfect low frequency nature sounds that support calmness, deep breathing, a relaxed state. High quality recordings. Great to help guide you to sleep.

Meditation and sleep.

I always listen to waves at night so I thought this would be great. However, the recording has some kind of "creaks" along with the waves and it sounds like wooden planks or twisting ropes? It woke me up from a good sleep, thinking someone was in my room walking across the hardwood. I won't be listening to this again at night. Maybe it would be fine for meditation.

Not for sleeping

absolutely love how calming. just like sitting in nature ourselves. no jarring out if place sound levels or information giving overlay that is not flowing with the sound. perfect for a sleep body scan or task focus.

peaceful soundscape perfect balance

No repeating loop sound; this is simply a clear, well done recording of about two hours' worth of nature sounds, from rain falling to waves or a waterfall.

Great to fall asleep to

I only rated “story” as a 4 because it is in fact not a story. However, it did exactly what I hoped it would do. It distracted my overacted mind and helped me to fall in to a piece full sleep.
I will definitely be listening every evening to get a more restful sleep!

Southing sounds helped quite my mind so I could sleep

When I was a child, my mother and I would listen to old Solitude cassette tapes by Dan Gibson. Like magic, we'd both be lulled to sleep within minutes. Soundscapes by Gordon Hempton captures that magic. This isn't a time for storytelling or narrative. I don't need to learn about the landscape around me, or have the beauty of Earth's whispers muffled by flutes, harps or white noise. Just simple, pure, uninterrupted nature. This is something that is so out of reach for most of us, but is needed by all of us.

More like this... PLEASE!

Well recorded. At times it sounds so perfect you would swear it was computerized sounds from a studio.

It’s pretty all right
