  • 1 John 3:4-10 || Dwelling in the Word
    May 24 2024
    Friday, May 24, 2024 Ep. 912 How to Use Your Bible pt. 2 1 John 3:4-10 Part 2 in how to use your Bible we’re looking at several benefits and one caution of reading from a study Bible. Dwelling in the Word and letting the Word dwell in us richly is different than reading the Bible or reading a devotional with Bible passages. This podcast is all about letting the Word of Christ dwell in you richly and returning the favor in a sense by dwelling in the Word - not "doing" Bible study, not simply reading - but really moving into the Word with heart, soul, mind, and strength. It's being intentional in making a shift from treating the Word of God like a self-help book to letting it dwell in us as the living Word of God that it is.

So, join me today to talk about using footnotes and cross references in part 1 of this session on how to use your Bible. Monday, May 20, 2024 Ep. 910 Bone Broth and Bible Study 1 John 2:25-29 If you've ever made bone broth then you know the importance of having a good filter - a colander, seive, or cheese cloth. The same applies when we read the Bible. Shouldn't we read the Bible with no filter? Actually, no. We all read the Bible through a filter - several filters actually. The filter of our upbringing, our current situation, even our mood at that moment. Be aware of your filters. You can’t remove them - but you can be aware so that when you read the Word you can ask - How is God using His holy Word in my life to teach me, encourage me, convict me, and change me today? Dwelling in the Word and letting the Word dwell in us richly is different than reading the Bible or reading a devotional with Bible passages. Ep. 909 Am I Loving or Using God?

    1 John 2:18-24

    I know that using people is wrong. I love people - I don't use them. Basic idea, right? But what about my relationship with God? What about when I read the Bible - His Words. Am I loving His Words or am I using them to get something I want? Here's a simple way to approach my time in the Word, even my moments listening to a sermon or Bible study teaching.

    Ep. 906 How to read when you don't understand the words or ideas.

    What happens when you're reading the Bible and you come across a word or an idea that is new to you, confusing to you, or you just don't understand? Today we're going to talk about a simple way to approach God's Word, to grow in your ability to understand, and also help you trust God in the process. 4 tips you'll be really thankful to have...and super simple too!

    2 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 And by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 Whoever says “I know him” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth is not in him, 5 but whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him: 6 whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.
