Als der junge Verleger Julius Campe 1826 dem damals noch recht unbekannten Dichter Heine die Veröffentlichung der "Harzreise" anbietet, ist das der Beginn einer lebenslangen "Literarischen Ehe", die von inniger Zuneigung, aber ebenso von heftigen Kämpfen um Honorare, Manuskriptlieferungszeiten und die Zensurfrage geprägt war.

Caterina, pressoché analfabeta, veniva aiutata nelle sue opere di carità da un gruppo di uomini e donne, fratelli spirituali, detti la "Bella Brigata". A questi stessi dettava le sue lettere, spesso dettandole contemporaneamente a più "scrivani". Scrisse circa 380 lettere, durante gli ultimi dieci anni della sua vita.

A selection of letters written home by a private soldier who served in Iraq, Palestine and other parts of the Middle East during the Second World War. Anthony Rawson was born in October 1919 and grew up in the family home in Watford. When war broke out in 1939 he was working as a gas fitter for the Watford and St. Albans Gas Company. He joined the army in June 1940 but because of his poor eyesight he was not classed as a combatant. Instead he became a fitter, later a vehicle mechanic in what was then the Royal Army Ordnance Corps and spent the next 5 years in the Middle East.
