A Midsummer Night's Dream is one of Shakespeare's best early works: an airy, romantic romp in the woods among bumbling rustics, temporarily star-crossed lovers, and the charming fairies who bewitch them all. Drawing on a popular English folk legend and annual, Shakespeare weaves a chaotic and comical tale of misunderstanding, mischief, and magic in which, like the dream-state it mimics, no harm is permanent and all is pleasantly resolved by the play's end.

Parecchi decenni prima dell'avvento della psicanalisi, Poe indaga con sapienza e intuizione la mente dell'uomo e sa che la paura non è condizionata soltanto da fattori esterni, ma può venire da uno stato interiore. Il senso di angoscia e paura è presente in tutto il racconto. Il protagonista, che è anche il narratore, sposa una donna molto intelligente di nome Morella.

L'opera fa parte del progetto "Radiovisione, scena e retroscena radiofonica" diretto da Sergio Ferrentino. "Un radiodramma, a leggerlo, non sa di niente, bisogna ascoltarlo, o meglio ancora vederlo": così è stato allestito al Teatro Gobetti di Torino e il pubblico, dotato di cuffie, ha potuto spiare in diretta attori e rumoristi in scena.
