An odd but well-loved short story following steps into madness. A country doctor has had more work than he can handle, and the stress seems to have taken him to a place that seems as at home in nightmares as in the madness of an overworked mind. Kafka's work often lends itself to the turmoil of the human mind. In this respect the story does not fail to impress.

One morning, traveling salesman Gregor Samsa wakes from an anxious dream to discover that he has inexplicably changed into a monstrous insect. Nonetheless, life goes on, and poor Gregor is left to deal not only with the existential questions of who or what he now is but also with more mundane concerns: his job (which he fears he’ll lose), his loved ones (whom he fears he disgusts), and the daily indignities of everyday life (which continue apace). Soon, even those who sympathize with his bizarre predicament begin to lose their patience....

Il Processo è uno dei più celebri romanzi di Franz Kafka. Lasciato incompiuto dallo scrittore e pubblicato postumo nel 1925, racconta la vicenda, surreale e angosciante, del procuratore di banca Josef K., che una mattina, senza conoscerne le ragioni, viene arrestato. Certo che si tratti di un errore, il giovane procuratore tenta di scoprire quale sia il capo d'imputazione sul quale si basa il processo che gli è intentato.

Un homme, à la demande de Membres de "l'Académie", est invité à faire une conférence sur sa vie antérieure de singe. Avec drôlerie et impertinence, cet homme-singe va raconter les principales étapes de son éducation. Une "métamorphose" à l'envers ; Kafka utilise l'animal pour mieux comprendre l'homme. Écrite en 1917, cette nouvelle "Rapport pour une Académie" reste intemporelle et traduit avec tonicité et force de vie comment on résiste malgré la captivité.

La metamorfosis cuenta la historia de la transformación de Gregorio Samsa en un monstruoso insecto, y del drama familiar que, a raíz de este acontecimiento, se desata. En este relato se ha querido ver una alegoría del enfrentamiento del hombre ante un mundo moderno que lo oprime y lo borra.

Reunir los cuentos de Franz Kafka (1883-1924) significa ofrecer en un solo volumen toda la ficción breve del autor, tanto la publicada en vida como todos los relatos dispersos que fueron publicados de manera póstuma, incluyendo La transformación, Un médico rural o Descripción de una lucha, su primer cuento escrito. Kafka es una de una de las mentes más singulares del siglo xx y una de las "formas de estar en la literatura" que más han influido en generaciones posteriores. Der bekannteste und vielleicht bedeutendste Roman der Weltliteratur ist ein Fragment. Im Sommer 1914 begann Franz Kafka mit der Arbeit, machte rasche Fortschritte, schloss aber die Arbeit bereits im Januar 1915 ab und überließ das Manuskript im unvollendeten Zustand, in einer Mappe, als ungeordnete Sammlung von einzelnen Kapiteln. Sein langjähriger Freund Max Brod veröffentlichte den Roman ein Jahr nach Kafkas Tod im Jahr 1925 in seiner bis heute befolgten Sortierung der Kapitel.

"Kafka erscheint uns rätselhaft, dabei schreibt er doch eigentlich in einer schlichten Prosa, seine Schilderungen sind präzise, seine Personen reden in einfachen Worten und es wird weder um das, was sie tun, noch um das, das sie reden, noch um das, was ihnen zustößt, ein großes Gewese gemacht. The story begins with a traveling salesman, Gregor Samsa, waking to find himself transformed (metamorphosed) into a large, monstrous insect-like creature. The cause of Gregor's transformation is never revealed, and Kafka himself never gave an explanation. The rest of Kafka's novella deals with Gregor's attempts to adjust to his new condition as he deals with being burdensome to his parents and sister, who are repulsed by the horrible, verminous creature Gregor has become.
